Anyone else been watching this? I love the UK version but a couple changes I read about (The Beast being the only Chaser, 3 people teams instead of 4) discouraged me from watching. But I'm watching a couple reruns right now and I should've given it a shot from the start! It's a lot closer to the original than I expected and an INCREDIBLE Final Chase cemented it for me.

I really want to like this version. I really do. The British version is one of the best quiz shows on television today. But there's so many things wrong with it. For one, it seems as if all of the money went into the prize fund, and away from the presentation. The wonderful British cues, which adds a great deal of suspense to the show, are all replaced with generic, quiet shit. There seems to be an extra focus on the sole Chaser than there ever was in the original version. It feels like the Mark Labbett Show at times. The pacing is terrible. Then again, I should have expected no less from a big-money show. Having just three people on a team would be fine if this were a half-hour show...but since it's not, the whole game just drags at times. The question writing leaves a lot to be desired as well. Brooke Burns is surprisingly competent as a host. Not great, mind you, but competent. Certainly much better than she was on Dog Eat Dog. Overall, it's...merely okay. Certainly one of GSN's better originals, but that's really not saying a lot considering the shit GSN produces these days. Then again, perhaps it's what the viewing audience wants, as evidenced by the success of the terrible The American Bible Challenge, and the failure of the absolutely wonderful The Pyramid. Guess it's time for me to shut up now.

Haven't seen it yet, I've been watching too much CNBC. Though I saw a few episodes of the British version back in June, it's a pretty good show. I've read about a few of the changes and some of them I like, such as the three person team instead of four. It makes the gameplay quicker, as well as less repetitive. Each contestant plays one round against the Chaser, it's the same format four times around. It kind of gets boring after the second round. I agree that there should be more variety in Chasers, although I'm not sure GSN would have the money for it.

Actually as cu already pointed out, it makes the gameplay SLOWER because it's less gameplay in the same time length, so they have to stretch it out more. cu, I too was a bit thrown off by the lack of cues, ESPECIALLY when both buzz in and the time in between the two buzz-ins.

They also seem to have removed the five-second time limit after the first buzz-in...major shame. Part of the ideal strategy of the game is pressuring the Chaser to answer quickly, especially on a question they may not know.

^ Or you could lock in very quickly on a question you don't know, throwing the Chaser off guard.
What a terrible idea... gives the Chaser too much of an advantage.

Remember, this is the same TV show that broke the record for a second season pickup...before the show ever even aired.

See even though I see and get the flaws, I still enjoy the show
