Hi there! My name's Sean! I'm 22 years old, and I've got autism. Since "Wheel of Fortune" has been one of my all time favorite television game shows since I was little (part of it was because my first crush was Vanna, LOL!), about how many new episodes of "Wheel of Fortune" usually air during a new season from September to December? The reason I ask, is because, there's this tape trader (which, to me is old school, since I can just watch "Wheel of Fortune" and other television game shows on YouTube and on other video websites) named Greg Brobeck (I think that's how his last name is spelled), and I was looking at his collection of television game show episodes, and Greg has a total of 37 episodes from the 2nd season of the syndicated "Wheel of Fortune" from September of 1984 to December of 1984 (and I'm sure there's many more than 37 episodes that aired during the syndicated version of "Wheel's" 2nd season from September of 1984 to December of 1984), so I was just wondering about how many new episodes of "Wheel" usually air from September to December? Or another example would be about how many episodes of "Wheel" aired from September of 2012 to December of 2012 during the 30th season of "Wheel"? Just in case "Wheel" is preempted for national news coverage, like the 1986 Challenger space shuttle disaster, the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, the 9/11 attacks, and the 2012 shooting in Newtown? Again, I'm not asking for the exact number of episodes of September to December, but about how many? Thanks! Sean

Hi, Sean! Welcome to the forum. In Season 30, there were 15 full weeks of episodes from its premiere through December, and the Monday of the 16th week was New Year's Eve, so that's 76 episodes. However, which Monday of September the season premiered depends on the season, as it varied a few times. Season 1 premiered on the third Monday, as did the most recent season. Season 2 ('84-'85) started on the second Monday. 1: 3rd 2-5: 2nd 6-22: 1st 23-28: 2nd 29-Present: 3rd

Thanks Mario! Fixed maligned quote. Make sure your response is outside of the [ quote ] tags.

You may be interested in the Wheel of Fortune History Wiki (click the "Wiki" button in the menu). The trader you mentioned, Greg Brobeck, has done quite a bit to help out there (look for any contributions from someone named "Snowpeck", that's him)

Welcome, Sean. You may be interested in the Wheel of Fortune History Wiki (click the "Wiki" button in the menu). The trader you mentioned, Greg Brobeck, has done quite a bit to help out there (look for any contributions from someone named "Snowpeck", that's him) Or any contributions made with the help of Snowpeck. He certainly helped me figure out quite a bit in Seasons 1-2 and 5-7, for instance (although mostly 2 and 6), along with some daytime (mostly the pilots, the '75 premiere, and much of 1985). However, which Monday of September the season premiered depends on the season, as it varied a few times. Season 1 premiered on the third Monday, Actually, that's a bit up for debate since 1983-84 was the last season to use the "bicycling" method of syndication. Some markets debuted it on the second Monday (9/12), some debuted it on the first Monday (9/5, listed by an old version of the show's website as the debut date), and a few affiliates (mostly in Ohio) debuted it on 8/29 with a special week taped at the Ohio State Fair. So the 2nd season of "Wheel of Fortune" debuted on September 10, 1984, and since there probably wasn't any preemptions from September 10, 1984 to December 31, 1984 (except for probably on November 6, 1984 on election night, but I don't know if "Wheel" gets preempted for election nights [...] like I said, I don't know wheel got preempted on November 6, 1984 for election night news coverage! The nighttime Wheel has never done this kind of thing, mainly due to syndication deals (39 weeks first-run/13 repeats). For syndicated shows, pre-emptions would be at the local level, not necessarily national. That said, until Season 16 two of the rerun weeks were done during the season (usually in late December and early Spring) -- in Season 2, for instance, the first rerun week was December 31-January 4. Daytime Wheel, on the other hand, did get pre-empted on various occasions over its near-17-year run. Pat's last show, for instance, was by all indications supposed to air on January 6.
