I was on episode 5396 (I think that's the one) and was on the old board quite a bit before I taped my show. I got so much good information off of that I'm back now to help those who are lucky enough to get their chance!

What kind of information did you find useful on the old boards? I leave in 2 days... getting excited! So far I've studied puzzles from Season 27 on Guint's Compendium (not remembering where I read that though, lol. was it a dream?) and have been doing Jumble, crosswords, crypto and playing WOF of the iPad. But working full time and having houseguests, shopping for a blazer (ha!) and trying to calm down in between. |

I found the boards before my final audition, which was really helpful in knowing what to expect there. Then after I got my letter I was on a lot just looking for advice. I think the one that paid off the most was the person who found the most common letters in the BR. I figured going into the BR, if I didn't know the puzzle I had to go with the odds. And BGHO paid off for me. Thanks to whoever that person was if they're still on these boards.
Some tips that helped me, spend every second studying the puzzle and less time looking at the wheel. It doesn't do any good to land on $5000 if you don't know what letter to pick. I actually found being in studio easier than being at home because you can study the board the entire time.
Buy vowels. As many as you can. It's worth it.
I played a ton of puzzles on my iPad to prepare. It sounds like you've already been doing that. It keeps your brain active in looking for letter patterns. I think that helped a lot.
I also liked the boards because I was able to chat and email with someone who was also heading to my taping. I felt like I already knew someone before I got there which helped me relax.
And just have fun! It's a once in a lifetime opportunity. And while everyone wants to win, Sometime the wheel isn't kind. That's not a reflection on you. Just do your best!
