All right, time to do my FIRST-EVER BAV Boards recap! This one's from season 24, an elusive season IMO...
Las Vegas (Day 5)
Toss-Up 1: Show biz
_ A _ _ _ R / _ F
I L L _ S _ _ _
I don't know if Jason's a MASTER OF ILLUSION, but he's earned $1,000. Let's meet tonight's players...
Jason Duncan: A recent UCLA graduate (go Bruins!)/claims adjuster who likes to play with computer gadgets; he's from Culver City, CA
Laura Wagecki (?): A speech pathologist who owns a private practice in Long Island that's named after her mother, Angel; she has a boyfriend named Scott and likes to travel and spend time with her 9 nieces/nephews; she's from Islip, NY
Natalie King: Reconstructs furniture/clothing and runs a carpet-cleaning business with her husband; she's from Los Osos, CA (near San Luis Obispo) but originally from Australia! Nice.
Toss-Up 2: Fun & games
L _ _ _ R / _ A G
I've never heard of this game before, but Jason will get a high-five from the ladies as he's beaten this game of LASER TAG for the tripler.
Featured Vegas Trip: The Venetian, $4,600 (provided by SpaFinder.com)
$10,000 Round: People (PRIZE PUZZLE)
Jason gets things started on $600; he lights up a T and an R pair. After buying 3 E's, he gets 2 S's on $300. Following a purchase of an A trio, he lands on $600 again - but there's no G. Over to Laura. She finds a $550 N, $1,200 from 3 L's (from $400 near $600), and an O. She next lands on top dollar...and finds two B's! She also picks up the Vegas.com gift tag with an F. She decides to spin again...oh no...she's actually gonna solve...
B E A _ T _ F _ L
B R A _ _ L _ A N
S _ _ E R _ O _ E L S
...and with $6,500 and the gift tag, she can see some BEAUTIFUL BRAZILIAN SUPERMODELS on her $4,800 trip to...where else?...RIO DE JANEIRO! Altogether, she's racked up $12,300 cash and prizes that round!
Winning SPIN ID: DB22386
Wrong Letter: G (Jason)
Laura: $12,300 cash and prizes
Natalie: $0, may spin in the next round
Jason: $3,000 Toss-Up money
ActivOn Jackpot Round: Thing
Laura can't find an S on $900. Natalie picks up the Free Spin on $300 with an R pair and FIVE T's on $600! But after finding 4 E's, she hits Lose a Turn, so she's definitely using her FS. And good decision - she picks up the Vegas trip with an L! After buying three A's, she lights up a $600 H pair, a $300 F (she nearly hit $3,500)...but then Bankrupts near the Jackpot to give up $8,000 cash and trip. Ouch. Jason lights up a D on that silver Jackpot wedge, and here's what he have showing...
A / H E A R T F E L T
H A _ D _ R I T T E _
_ _ T E
...but he can't solve for a $7,600 Jackpot. And to make matters worse, he spins once more for just a $400 W (near the empty Gift Tag)...
A / H E A R T F E L T
H A _ D W R I T T E _
_ _ T E
...and reads A HEARTFELT HANDWRITTEN NOTE for $900 bumped up to $1,000 when he could've gone for those N's and/or the Jackpot. By now, he should've had $8,100 this round...
Wrong Letter: S (Laura)
Bankrupt: Natalie
Lose a Turn: Natalie (she used her Free Spin)
Unclaimed Jackpot: $8,000
Laura: $12,300
Natalie: $0
Jason: $4,000
Mystery Round: Where are we?
Still trying to score big, Natalie gets an $800 S and 3 T's for $1,650. After buying 4 E's, she lights up two semi-obvious H's on $300. But after a purchase of 4 A's, she strikes out on the Mystery Wedge between $900 and $300 with an M. Jason lights up a $300 N, buys an O, and nearly hits the same MW (instead, he lands on $300 again)...but picks a P for wrong letter. Laura gets a $900 R trio and a $2,400 C quartet, but she Bankrupts between $600 and $900 to give up $3,300. Natalie duds out again on $300 with a D, and Jason hits LaT, so it's right back to Laura. She lights up a $3,500 L, a trio of B's for $2,700, and three I's to clear out the vowels...and she'd better get this one...
C A B L E / C A R S
R I C E - A - R _ N I
T H E / C I T _ / B _
T H E / B A _
...she nails CABLE CARS, RICE-A-RONI, THE CITY BY THE BAY for another $5,950! And for the $3,000 bonus, she knows the city is...SAN FRANCISCO! That was an $8,950 round for her.
Wrong Letters: M (Natalie), P (Jason), D (Natalie)
Bankrupt: Laura
Lose a Turn: Jason
Laura: $21,250
Natalie: $0
Jason: $4,000
I think you guys can tell why I'm excited about this...
Toss-Up 3: Food & drink
B L _ _ _ _ _ _ Y
_ _ F _ I _
Jason quickly sweeps the Toss-Ups, so he can eat a BLUEBERRY MUFFIN for a new total of $7,000.
Round 4: Event
It's a $1,300 Final Spin, but this is gonna be a snoozefest...
Jason - 2 T's
Laura - 2 semi-obvious H's
Natalie - 1 S
Jason - 1 R
Laura - 3 N's
Can Laura solve with this setup for $6,500?
S _ N _ _ N _ / _ _ _ N _
_ _ T H / T H _ / R _ _ _ _
Not yet, so let's what happens when Natalie lights up a W...
S _ N _ _ N _ / _ _ _ N _
W _ T H / T H _ / R _ _ _ _
...well, she has nothing either, so no $2,600 for her? Jason duds out with V, so Laura lights up the G trio. Can she get it this time for $10,400?
S _ N G _ N G / _ _ _ N G
W _ T H / T H _ / R _ _ _ _
No, so Natalie lights up the D...
S _ N G _ N G / _ _ _ N G
W _ T H / T H _ / R _ D _ _
...but there's NO GUESS from her, so $3,900 might be going down the drain for her. Let's see what happens when Jason lights up an E...
S _ N G _ N G / _ _ _ N G
W _ T H / T H E / R _ D _ _
...but he CAN'T solve it, either! Wow. Laura should get it once she lights up an O pairing...
S _ N G _ N G / _ _ O N G
W _ T H / T H E / R _ D _ O
...guess what guys? She STILL HAS NOTHING!!! Ugh... Natalie lights up the last consonant of L (the beeps don't sound)...
S _ N G _ N G / _ L O N G
W _ T H / T H E / R _ D _ O
...and she's FINALLY SINGING ALONG WITH THE RADIO for her first and only $5,200!
Wrong Letter: V (Jason)
Laura: $21,250 cash and prizes
Natalie: $5,200
Jason: $7,000
Maingame Winnings: $33,450
Bankrupt Trash: $11,300 cash and Vegas trip
Bonus Round: Thing
Laura brought her boyfriend Scott and his mom Barbara. BTW, she's never been to Rio, she says. She could win a Jaguar X Type, but lands on the A in CASH for now.
Just an E in this one-wordy...
_ E _ _ _ _
She's going with CDMO...
_ E _ _ _ D
...or maybe she should've chosen A as her vowel. While I'm on my KEYPAD finishing up the calculations, she loses the X Type. That sends her home with $21,250 cash and prizes.
In the end-of-show discussion, Vanna discusses a New Year's resolution she says she's terrible at - giving up sugar.
Well, that wraps up "Las Vegas Week 2007" on Wheel of Fortune.
