NBA Players (Day 3)
Time for NBA Players Week! I’m not really into basketball, but here are our NBA/WNBA players for tonight and their charities (which they introduce after Round 1):
Becky Hammon is from the New York Liberty, a WNBA team. She tells us this league is young but really good. Her charity, the American Red Cross, is donating to the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Ray Owens plays for the Seattle SuperSonics (now the Oklahoma City Thunder). They had just claimed the division title. He is also donating to Katrina victims via the American Red Cross.
Mike Bibby is reppin the Sacramento Kings. He’s been in some commercials. His charity, the Boys & Clubs Club of Greater San Diego, will help disadvantaged citizens in that area.
Toss-Up 1: Song title
_ / B E _ _ _ V E
I / _ _ _ / _ _ _
This is one of my favorite R. Kelly songs (the other is “World’s Greatest”) and Rachel nails “I BELIEVE I CAN FLY”! Here is our all-female civilian panel:
Rachel Pereas: An administrative assistant and assistant chef at a catering company who’s pursuing her Master’s degree in forensic science; she enjoys scuba diving and is from North Arlington, NJ
Deone (dee-AHN) Dockett: A host mother to a German exchange student with a 10-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son of her own; she’s been married to Lance for 14 years and enjoys running, skiing, and biking; she’s from Edgewood, WA
Jenn(ifer) Bauman: A teacher at Lawrence Elementary School who loves outdoor activities; she’s from Antelope, CA (near Sacramento)
What do all three of these ladies have in common? They all love watching basketball!
Toss-Up 2: Thing
G O _ G L E
_ _ _ R C _
Jenn isn’t sure, but she’s right with GOOGLE SEARCH.
NBA Prize on the Wheel (wonder if they had one for WNBA that week?): A trip to San Diego, CA, with a tour of Sony PlayStation’s NBA 06 Studio, with an NBA 06 PS2 video game and a PlayStation; all of this is from Ray Allen and is worth $4,000
$10,000 Round: Phrase (it’s a question)
Jenn & Mike start out with a $600 S and a $900 T trio. After buying an A, they light up a $3,600 H quartet and buy a whopping FIVE E’s. They spin once more for a $600 W pair...
H _ W ‘ S / T H E
W E A T H E _
_ _ / T H E _ E ?
...and I sure hope Jenn isn’t asking Mike “HOW’S THE WEATHER UP THERE?”, but these two have earned another $5,200.
DOMINATION!
Rachel & Becky: $1,000 Toss-Up money
Deone & Ray: Yet to spin
Jenn & Mike: $7,200
Ray, Mike, and Becky promote their charities in the order you just saw.
Brand Source Jackpot Round: Place (PRIZE PUZZLE)
I knew this would be the Prize Puzzle. Anyway, Rachel & Becky begin this round with 2 R’s for $800 and an N for $600. After buying an E and “one more” (Rachel said it) vowel of A, they rake a $600 L and $1,200 from three T’s (what a pattern, eh?). But after buying 3 O’s, they Bankrupt to give back $2,450. Deone & Ray don’t do any better with a dud of P on $300 (although it could’ve been much worse, they just didn’t make it to top dollar). Jenn & Mike call an M for $600 and a K for the NBA Store gift tag. They buy an I and a U to clear out the vowels and light up an $800 D before picking up the big NBA package with a G. They land on $800 and call an S before landing on that red space again...but they call H instead of B (I knew that would happen), so they’ll have to say goodbye to $6,200 cash and prizes. Ouch. Rachel & Becky light up that B for...what else...$800...
B U S T L I N G
O U T D O O R
M A R K E T
...and with that amount, Rachel can visit a BUSTLING OUTDOOR MARKET on her $4,060 trip to MAZATLAN, MEXICO.
TRIP ID: FJ00776
Wrong Letters: P (Deone’s team), H (Jenn’s team)
Bankrupt: Rachel’s team
Unclaimed Jackpot: $11,300
Rachel & Becky: $5,860 cash and Mexico (all cash for Becky)
Deone & Ray: $0
Jenn & Mike: $7,200 (could’ve been $17,460 had it not been for that error, wow...)
Mystery Round: Before & after
Deone & Ray can’t find an S on $3,500, and Jenn & Mike Bankrupt near that space. Rachel & Becky light up a $700 N and a $3,500 R before buying 2 A’s. They next land on $600 and light up two L’s before purchasing an E quartet. After that, they land on the Mystery Wedge between $800 and $300 and find 2 M’s. They’re going for it...good call! After babbling 3 B’s for another $1,650...
M A _ E / M _ N E / A
_ _ _ B L E
_ R _ B B L E
...I hope someone can MAKE MINE A DOUBLE DRIBBLE - they’ve won another $16,550 (including the $10K Mystery)!
Wrong Letter: S (Deone’s team)
Bankrupt: Jenn’s team
Rachel & Becky: $22,410
Deone & Ray: $0
Jenn & Mike: $7,200
Toss-Up 3: Occupation
E Q _ _ P _ E _ T
M A N _ _ E _
The red ladies are up to $25,410 w/ a solve of EQUIPMENT MANAGER.

Do the red ladies know it now with an extra $5,200 on the line?
_ _ R _ L _ N _
C R _ _ / C _ _ _ S
I’m afraid not. Deone calls a B while Ray calls an M, but they’re going with M...
M _ R _ L _ N _
C R _ _ / C _ _ _ S
Well, either letter would’ve worked - they’re finally off the schneid by eating up some $3,900 MARYLAND CRAB CAKES!
Wrong Letters: G (Deone’s team), T (Jenn’s team)
Rachel & Becky: $25,410 cash and Mexico (all in cash for Becky)!

You KNOW NBA/WNBA players wear these:

S _ _ _ S
They’re going with CMPA:
_ _ M
S _ C _ S
They start to say the first word before the timer, and Pat builds some tension by telling them they “might not get this” - but they scream out GYM SOCKS! And Rachel wins a $34,939 Toyota Sequoia, giving these ladies a final total of $60,349! Nice job, you two!
The next three NBA players will be:
The Rockets’ Kenny Smith
The Warriors’ Baron Davis
The Nuggets’ Carmelo Anthony
Pat and Vanna talk with the three athletes about some good gameplay and their charities.
You know, I like celebrity shows. When you play for charity, everyone wins.
