In case you didn't realize, I program games in my spare time on weekends. I have been programming an array of PC games based on hit game shows, past or present.
I have tried several attempts to program Wheel of Fortune, but realized it was too time-consuming every time I tried. But as the attempts occur, the time-consuming task gets less and less every time, it seems.
As of this morning, I have gotten started on my latest attempt to program Wheel of Fortune, and while BigJon hasn't been able to work on a Season 31 update for his site (and probably will never see the light of day, possibly due to his real life agenda), I decided to cut the slack and take a stab at creating a Wheel of Fortune game based strictly on Season 31, since doing it in the same fashion as BigJon's would make for an even greater time-consuming task. The main thing is, I want to give something in the form of Season 31 to those in the gaming community, and I really am proud to be devoting some of my time to this project.
This morning, I got a head start on some of the code, and this evening, I have been creating Season 31 wheels using PowerPoint. I also intend to create realistic letter tiles to that of the show or close to it, and some overheads and other great stuff.
I intend to use some of the wedges created by others (though I will give them credit for using their works, if that is not a problem), and use them to design my wheels.
If anybody would be happy to do some voice announcing audio files to contribute to my project, please let me know in this thread, or by private message.
I will also include Toss-Up rounds, and a series of game flow modes, offering a choice between 10, 15, or 20 minute games, or a set number of puzzles (minimum of four, maximum of six).
I also ensure that the bonus round puzzles will contain at least one curveball letter, as is the case on the show in this day and age (after all, the stakes are higher, so it makes sense to make the bonus round puzzles a bit tougher).
I am going to commit to this project, but develop it at a slow but steady pace. I am sure you will enjoy my completed product when it is released.

Sounds fun. If you are looking for an announcer, WooWho is the guy. I would just like to point out that I did a similar project before. It was a game control that allowed you to use your own wheels and own puzzles to play a game, although it wasn't a functioning game on it's own. Despite that, it was taken off of here by the admins. Just a small heads up that you may need to ask the admins ahead of time if it's okay to promote the game on here. BTW, what programming language are you using?

Visual Basic 6.0 is the programming language I use. And thanks for the heads-up with regards to posting it online. I forgot that these boards do not support piracy. I will do the right thing by not promoting the game nor posting the link. I am glad, however, that I downloaded your game control while I did.

Creating your own WOF game isn't really "piracy", per se. It is still copyright infringement, however, because you are using a format and marks that do not belong to you in a product of your own. But we support the show, and its official endeavors. As such, we cannot allow links to unofficial games to be posted publicly. We're fairly confident the show does read these boards, and we don't want the boards or any of its members slapped with cease and desist orders. Trust me, you don't either.

You can always PM users, since the messages are private and out of view from the public. I used visual Basic 2008 to code my game control, but I'm not sure if there is any difference between 2008 and VB6.

Hey there,This really sounds like an awesome plan! I have done something similar with what you are expecting to do. I have created a PowerPoint-based Wheel of Fortune game. The link [has been removed by a mod]But make sure you have the fonts 'Cosmos' and 'Gotham Black' in your desktop. If you don't, simple, just go download it via Google. The slides are self-edited and not defaulted. The puzzles need to be edited by yourself. I will post the steps on how to edit the puzzles in the future because it is a VERY complex method. I will also upload a soundboard with some of the WOF sound effects. (e.g. Bankrupt, Half Car Horn, Bonus Round Music, etc.) You would have to provide me your e-mail address for this. Let me explain how you operate it (not edit): - For Toss Up Puzzles, the Toss-Up title card appears (On Click) followed by the puzzle (Automatic). To start the puzzle, just hit Next and the letters will randomly appear. If let's say that someone knows the answer, hit the 'S' button to stop the letters from appearing. From this part, you can do 2 things: 1. If the contestant answers it correctly, press 'Tab' and press 'Enter' and the solution appears with green LED effects. 2. If the contestant answers it incorrectly or ran out of time, press 'S' again to resume the puzzle. - For normal gameplay, the puzzle appears follow by a letter grid (next slide). If someone calls out a letter, let's say an N, click on the letter N in the letter grid. At this point, you will see whether the letter N is in the puzzle by hearing dings together with white squares turned to blue, or the letter N is not in the puzzle by hearing a buzz sound. NOTE: As the rectangles change to blue, the letters will not appear automatically. You have to click on the blue squares in order to make the letters light up. If there are no more vowels in the puzzle, simply click the left neon rectangle (beside the puzzle board). A 'NO MORE VOWELS' sign appears and disappears automatically. If there are no more consonants in the puzzle, simply click the right neon rectangle with the words 'WHEEL OF FORTUNE' written next to it (beside the puzzle board too). A 'NO MORE CONSONANT' sign appears followed by the sound effects and disappears automatically. If someone solves the puzzle correctly, just click on the category strip (not the name of the category), and the solution appears followed by graphical effects. - For Trivia puzzles (usually in Round 1), as the puzzle is solved, the sign 'TRIVIA PUZZLE' appears and again, disappears automatically. The correct solution can be revealed by clicking on the category strip. - For Speed Up Rounds, all sound effects are removed (just like the show). But as you click on the slide, the 'Speed Up' music is heard. There is one sound effect though, which is the 3-second buzzer. The sound will trigger if you click on the left-most letter in the puzzle. - For Bonus Round, first as you know, R S T L N E appears, and the contestant is asked to pick 3 (or 4 with Wild Card) consonants and a vowel. As the contestant makes their selection, click on the letters based on their selection, and you noticed the letter turns transparent. Once the selection is done, click on the transparent letters, and the letters will or will not appear in the puzzle. To trigger the 10-second timer, click on the category strip. If the contestant solves it correctly, click on the category strip again and the solution appears. If not, wait until the timer is up, then the puzzle reveals the solution one letter at a time.
I hope this is enough info for you. I felt like I became an author just by doing this.
Removed link to the game. cu just said, two posts above, that you couldn't publicly post links to unofficial games. So please don't. -J
