I came across a link to the infamous "O for Awesome" episode, but since it's apparently exclusive to New Zealand viewers, there are some questions I'd like to ask to those who can watch the full episode. One, did it play exactly like Australia's version? Two, would anyone know if shopping was ever done on this version, whether celebrities were playing or not? www.nzonscreen.com/title/wheel-of-fortune-celebrity-episode-1992Those are just questions of curiosity, but the big question is really if those who can watch the episode may also please do me a favor. I know the layout used in round 1, but may you also please tell me the layouts (colors & values) used in later rounds? The reason why I ask is that in the video seen below, the layout does not match any of the Australia layouts used in rounds 2 or 3. If anything, the layout looks more like the Australian round 1 Wheel from the time (with $360 still left of the Lose A Turn) only with some values enlarged.

I have PARTIAL information on the layouts, and I am told that the "O for Awesome" episode doesn't give us a good view of the entire Round 2-3 layout. I'll see what can be done about inviting the person I know knows a lot about this over here.

I appreciate the help, StrangerCoug. If you can ask the person if (s)he can share shots of all the Wheel's values with you, that'd be terrific. If the mods are okay with those shots being posted here, that can also be a big help.
BTW, could you please share with me what you do know, just for the heck of it?

Good afternoon I've been lurking the board for some time, but I only just registered today, at StrangerCoug's request. I'm not old enough to remember the original NZ episodes, but I do live here, so I can see those videos. As a matter of fact, I've used them before to identify the layouts for use on another site. I will see how I can go about digging them up and converting them to BAV style. I have no idea how the Australian show was run, but if you have any specific questions, I will do my best to answer.

And there he is. I've dug up an old PM he gave me on the other site, and his recreation is the following. These are in clockwise order starting from top dollar and the colors may be off.
ROUND 2 Silver $690 Orange $180 Red $210 Green $480 Yellow $280 Orange Lose a Turn Yellow $165 Unknown Unknown Unknown Unknown Red $4?? Yellow $210 Red $390 Orange $280 Bankrupt Green $165 Orange $280 Red $340 Yellow $210 Bankrupt Orange $410 Red $165 Yellow $135
His plans for what he called the "New Zealand Retro Tournament" at the time was to call the partial red wedge a red $470 and use (starting from the yellow $165) a red $550, an orange $110, a yellow $320, and a green Free Spin space for the values he couldn't get.
ROUND 3 (some values as well as colors may be wrong) Silver $1800 Yellow $270 Orange Lose a Turn Green $165 Yellow $200 Red $540 Orange $165 Bankrupt Yellow $620 Orange $700* Red $460 Yellow $270 Green $165 Orange Lose a Turn Yellow $165 Red $340 Green $270 Bankrupt Orange $340* Red $275 Green $525 Yellow $255 Orange $200 Red $420
* The mockup RichardGHP gave me uses a darker shade of orange on these than the rest of the orange wedges on the layout. That might be useful.
I consider layout changes a possibility since what I got from available-in-America footage doesn't line up with a few of these.

Welcome to the Buy A Vowel Boards, Richardghp. We're glad to see you here.
Now, I wouldn't be surprised if this episode played like the Australian version at the time. My big question is whether or not that day's contestants used their money to shop for prizes.
As for the layouts, if you have Microsoft Excel, I think you you can just make the layouts on it and make a screenshot of them. There is a section called Real Wheels and a thread in it that's titled along the lines of Wheel layouts international. You can post it there if you have a picture hosting site. Plus, if you want to post shots, you may just as long as the moderators are okay with that. Please be sure to ask them first.
Thank you for providing us with more information about New Zeland's elder version of "Wheel of Fortune."

That I can do. As StrangerCoug mentioned, I made up mock wheels which I am happy to post in the International Layouts thread; also as mentioned, the "O for awesome" episode is not terribly helpful in determining the layouts for rounds 2 and 3, hence the Unknown spaces and the partial $4-- wedge.
As regards your question, no shoppping was involved—it's much closer to the 2008 revival in that respect. You may or may not be aware that the bonus round wheel played like a wheel full of prizes. In this case (possibly other episodes; I don't know), BONDS, DINNERSET, LOUNGE, JEWELLERY, HOLIDAY, and TELSTAR (I assume a Ford Telstar, which was and still is a popular Ford model in New Zealand). Everything's visible, so the contestant knows what they are playing for. In this case, the winner was playing for the jewellery but didn't solve _ _ / L _ _ _ / _ _ / _ H _ / L _ _ / _ _ / _ U _ R Y.
On another topic, could you tell me how I would go about changing my name so that it's properly capitalised? I go by RichardGHP everywhere else.

Now there's this one video I remember that was uploaded a few years ago. It gives us a bit more info about what the colors of the "unknown" wedges were. Obviously some of the values are different (like the $180 next to $690 decreased to $110), but that doesn't mean I believe they would do the same with the colors.
Here's the video. The New Zealand clip begins at 2:07.
From the yellow $165 going clockwise to the yellow $210, the wedges are green, orange, yellow, green, and red. The yellow wedge may be valued at $390. Much to my expectations, the green wedge does not look like a Free Spin. In Australia's version at the time, Free Spin was only seen in round 1.

So along with the find my friend had for Lithuanian Wheel, who wants to see a retro NZ Wheel promo?

For those who know about my "Collect" prize wedge, it has yet to arrive. Since there's no post today, I'm expecting it tomorrow, Tuesday at the very latest.
Anyway, for those who want to see Tua's episode intact, your wish has been granted at long last. Please enjoy!

Well, we're still uncertain of all the values. I did make the layouts a few months ago, but I know I need to make some changes.
One of the changes is to the center. It's silver with a white border, and on regular episodes (not the celebrity episodes), it has the same shape as the circular contestant backdrops.
On celebrity episodes, it has a star.

I just realized that the New Zealand Round 2 and 3 layouts come very close to being the respective Australian layouts with half the template reversed.

Yep, some of the values had been switched around. All the values were scrambled around in Rounds 2 and 3.
Round 2 in early 90s New Zealand is perhaps stranger than Round 2 in mid-late 70s U.S. because as opposed to just five spaces, only four separated the two Bankrupts. In Round 3, the $465 was decreased to $460 and one of the $340 spaces was dropped to $165.

Here's a collection of episodes uploaded by one of the contestants who had an amazing run. The episodes, which are believed to be from 1991 (unquestionably around Christmastime), use the top-dollar structure of $360, $690, and $1800 (as opposed to the $500, $1000, and $2000 structure I was hoping for), but at least they confirm that the layouts that wheelgenius and I recreated are indeed right when it comes to dollar values.

I'm sorry. Since I didn't have time to edit, there were 3 gold wedges, not 4. And I have one loaded with prizes as seen in one of the episodes.
