Hey everybody! It's time to play...
Wheel! Two thousand!
Here's Cyber Lucy, and she presents to you...David Sidoni!
And I present you these contestants:
Marissa: 6th-grader with five cats, likes Science class. She also took surfing lessons from "Kahuna Bob".
Gerrard: 6th-grader, likes Math and Science class, plays baseballs and basketball, spends time on the computer.
Vinnie: 6th-grader, likes to surf, golf, and play baseball.
(The show does not give last names or hometowns.)
Our physical game today is Call Waiting. We have www.wheel2000.com; call a correct letter to win yourself and a home viewer a Wheel 2000 T-shirt and hat! You may also want to stop by the prize box; all you have to do is call is call a correct letter to keep it.
The top value on the Wheel is 1,000.
But look out for the blue space, Loser, or you get the "big L" and lose your turn. And really look out for this black space, The Creature. If you hit it, a creature eat any points you have in this round.
Now Marissa, select a category:
(Note: Educational material will only be kept if it has any effect on the gameplay. For instance, a description of the subject of the puzzle is given after the solve, but will be omitted from these recaps.)

Call Waiting |
There is a famous person waiting on each of five telephone lines. You have to figure out who those famous people are by saying "Who's Calling?". Once you figure it out, you yell it out, and the randomizer will give you a letter. The trick is that each phone rings only four times, so either listen to the person on the first phone, or pick a different phone. You have a chance to get up to three letters, but you only have 60 seconds (one phone every 15 seconds). Go! |
Phone 1: "I was born in Italy, worked briefly as a map maker in Portugal. In 1492, I convinced Queen Isabella of Spain..." Gerrard: Columbus? (Correct!) (Letter: P) Phone 4: "When I was young I worked as an apprentice in a machine shop. In 1892 I built my first automobile. I made a lot more of those automobiles when I invented the assembly line. The car I designed in 1908, the 'Model-T'..." Gerrard hangs up. (Henry Ford) Phone 2: "My brother and I operated a bicycle repair shop in Ohio..." Gerrard: Wright Brothers? (Correct!) (Letter: N) Phone 5: "Although I served in the United States congress, people remember me best as a frontiersman. I served under Andrew Jackson in the War of 1812. I was known for my back wounds..." Gerrard hangs up. (Davy Crockett) TIME'S UP! |
