Greetings everyone! I'm Rick from Baltimore, MD. I was a contestant on Wheel in 1999 and the show aired on April 20,1999 (the date of the Columbine massacre sadly). I as the "big winner" on the day with $42,098 including the final puzzle (which i won't give away in case there's a recap on the show, lets just say I shocked Pat and Vanna!)
I'm actually hoping to see if someone has a copy of this show, sadly the VHS tape that I had the copy on was damaged and I no longer have a copy. Any direction you can point me in here would be great!

Hi, Rick. Thanks for joining, and thanks, jaythebrainmann for referring him here. Unfortunately, your episode is not recapped...because it does not circulate in the trading circuit, meaning it isn't online anywhere. You might have a small chance at getting a copy from Sony, but don't get your hopes up. Here's what you can try... E-mail wofhelp at sonypictures dot com (With proper format of course. I'm not typing it as such here so the address doesn't succumb to spam because of this.) and inform them of your situation. Just give them your full name, and tell them that the episode aired April 20, 1999 and the show number is S-3087. If they even consider sending you a copy in some form, you would probably have to pay a good sum of money, so mention that you are willing to pay for the copy if you have to (unless, you know, you're not. ). Good luck! Would really like to see how the BR went down.

Hey everyone, quick update to the "Case of the Missing Show". I just got an email today for Sony Pictures saying they COULD find the video (for a ffee, which of course I'll pay!). I'll know more when they get back to me.

Great to hear! Did they tell you how much the fee is yet?

I just got an email today for Sony Pictures saying they COULD find the video (for a ffee, which of course I'll pay!). I'll know more when they get back to me. Based on this, it seems like Sony has a $75 fee to find the episode, as opposed to getting a copy made and sent to you. It's a moot point at the moment, since your appearance is understandably very important to you, but it's something that came to my mind upon reading this. If anybody can get a copy of any episode for such a good deal, I've got a relative named June who played on January 6, 1975 and another named Kevin who was on the October 22, 1982 show. Any chance I can get copies of those? /not actually related to either

But I am getting a DVD copy at least

Makes sense. Given that, you could recap the episode for the Retro Recaps section if you want to.

I just got the copy today! Thanks again to everyone for their help. I'm currently writing the recap now, should have it up here in the next few days. Edit: Ok maybe a bit longer! Recapping the show takes a bit of work I might need help with the formatting and such to get it right on the page

So glad you got it! Wheel is so helpful to people. So did they put any kind of fancy label or graphics on the disc? And was I right that the show number was indeed S-3087? (Assuming the DVD starts with the production slate. If so, when did it tape?) Don't worry if you have trouble with the recap formatting. We'll help you.

Indeed that was the right show! The beginning slide is the VO to the station advising them of the episode number and air date. Show taped on 3/12/99. Not fancy label or graphics, just very plain.

Now, obviously you can't share the video, but do you know if you're allowed to post screenshots from the episode?

If you can post screenshots, I wouldn't mind one of the slate.

I'm pretty sure you'll do a good job writing it.
I think it might also be the first recap done by someone who has been on the stage (and going even further, the first time a contestant recaps his/her own episode).

Sorry for the delay in getting my recap posted, I just had to replace the HD on my system. With a 3-day weekend I'll have it up!
