Hello, I'm futuregshost, but you can call me Zach. (Or Zachary, doesn't matter.) Some of you may know me from the Millionaire Fans board. Recently, I took part in therealcu2010's Super Millionaire game, and it was really fun. So I decided to come here! I also watch Wheel of Fortune (almost) daily. I hope to someday come see the show or play it whenever it comes to my home town, Las Vegas. I hope to see you all somewhere on the boards! -Zach (Futuregshost)

Welcome. Just curious: where did you get your avatar picture from?

Where did you get your avatar picture from? I did a google image search of buy a vowel. It should be one of the first results.

As far as I know, the ONLY place I've ever found that capture was on the Wiki... just saying.

It's a capture from the show's E! True Hollywood Story, although I originally found that still-shot in a photo montage on YouTube.

Hmm, I'd always assumed you took that capture yourself (along with all the other screengrabs of the premiere) from your copy of the True Hollywood Story

Most of the premiere pictures I added were taken by me from the THS, but the Buy A Vowel shot came before I got my partial copy (which, after watching it again the other night to see if any more names needed to be added to the Wiki's page on said episode, I discovered ends just after the narrator {Bil Dwyer?} mentions the scathing reviews Goddess of Love got).
And this isn't exactly related to anything, but boy does my partial copy spend a lot of time on Vanna once they get to about 1980.

Wait until it gets to the "Vannamania" part. (I really need to find an easy encoding method. My copy's losing quality and I really want to do something with it)

Daniel, in the part about the premiere, I know it shows the blanks for the first puzzle... did it mention a category for it at all? (I ask since I've got a hunch as to what the solution might be...)

From what I remember, there was no category mentioned since the audio was replaced with a narration, but it did show that the first two correct letters called (also the first two letters of the puzzle) were S and C:
S C _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

There was also no category displayed, although I have no idea whether the category cards were even presented when the show debuted -- for all I know, they may have still been using the "clue" style of the 1974 pilots. Hopefully the 7/15/75 episode will answer the "clue vs. category" question...
As for the puzzle, I remember some people suggesting it may have been SCOTLAND YARD.

Speaking of the Byrnes pilots, there's another thing I discovered while rewatching my partial copy. On several Wiki pages, the '74 pilots in the order they are because of the timecode being farther along in Tanya/Frank/Lois, even though one wasn't present in the Marge/Gary/Roseanne clips on the ceremonial 3,000th nighttime show. While the Tanya/Frank/Lois pilot begins with a graphic stating "WHEEL OF FORTUNE PILOT #2", I had my doubts since it was dated 2004 and no idea if Shopper's Bazaar was considered Pilot #1. In the THS, when the narrator mentions the 8/28/74 taping, there's a brief shot of a typed paper showing the show's name, host and hostess, and two columns marked "CONTESTANTS #1" and "CONTESTANTS #2" -- the first name in the second column, visible briefly during the transition and clearly handwritten, is "Tanya". Official confirmation if ever I saw one.
