Already?! Wow! Congrats, Emil! Can't wait to see who interviews you next. You can't be that far from the studio, then. If only you played DPG. You would have been even more prepared for that interview and could have even namedropped. (Also, if you end up getting interviewed by Jimmy Fallon, be sure to tell him the REAL rules of the Million Dollar Wedge.)

Christ, that's hilarious...Mario was talking to me last night about your solve, and in no uncertain terms did he say you'd make it on Ellen. Ha! Good for you, and I'm thinking Andy Warhol was wrong about you. (And BAV as whole is potentially involved with her in the future, having submitted itself a few hours back for her World Wide What? segment just a few hours ago, like Mario said. Stay tuned.) --- Mar 20, 2014 23:10:48 GMT -4 tenpoundhammer said: ^ No letter solve? Clearly this is where I come in. Or me. I think both of us would have a legit chance to do so, either with, as Mario said a trip puzzle, or quite possibly a Toss-Up with no letters--I can usually do that with the cities (like tonight's) or any sports team that they'd give, roughly 85% of the time. Quotation is about 50% there, and Shakespearean is sure to no letter. The other thing in our favor (along with other super solvers) is potentially blowing the BR picks, if it's at least semi-obscure and you know it with RSTLNE, since that is more of a wow factor to people (and they'd never know the difference on air). Heck, most of us do that enough here, and I do it like 95% of the time. This raises the question in my mind: How much obscurity would it take for a similar scenario, in BR difficulty, would this take to happen again (or any John Doe)? Does it need an obscure term (BUGGY)? Or can it be letter difficulty as well, like HOT WAX? Good idea for analysis later--how many BR puzzles this season would be impressive to all hell like Emil's with RSTLNE alone. Guint's site here should be interesting, might edit that with this or make it its own thread.

That was amusing, if a bit meh on those puzzles, not much thought put into them on difficulty.

I admit this is more than likely far-fetched, but hey I'll say it anyway: at the rate this is going, I'd be half-surprised if we ended up with actual celebs on this forum, mainly because it'd be amusing to see them play in the HYO and DPG sections since Wheel refuses to let them play on the real show. All I'm saying is, this is some great opportunity to mention the existence of this site on national TV and actually attract more fans and contestants. Last night, Prizes even submitted the site for Ellen's "World Wide What?" segment about obscure websites. Plus this could bounce off pretty well to the History Wiki and Puzzle Compendium, both of which could benefit from national exposure. Everybody wins -- Emil, Wheel, all the shows and media outlets that want to interview Emil, and BAV! And here, embedded, is the video of Emil on Ellen's talk show...entering, appropriately, to "You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)":

I have been waiting for Wheel to give us one surprising moment, and Wednesday night they gave us one...big time! Emil is from the Bay Area, Daly City to be exact.
I also couldn't believe when I googled WoF for news reports that Wednesday's BR solve would be big news. Every news outlet, including CNN, CBS, ABC had one article about this. Usually, there would be one news article for Wheel each week, but on Thursday, there were about 298!!
I am hoping that WoF will start showing their 1990-2002 syndicated shows soon, just like Jeopardy! has done with their shows on Crackle.

Jeopardy has reason to though; it's all contestants that are involved in the Battle of the Decades tournament.

You know...with how much fame and respect Emil is getting from all this, I hope WOF is kicking themselves right now for not having champions anymore. Do they realize how many people would tune in if Emil played again? The ratings would soar even higher than they already are. Also, the solve didn't go without an S&P review:

A) BAV is not going to be mentioned on-air or anything, I bet Proboards TOS would not allow it / these companies would be afraid of such a clause in a ToS. Cool your jets.
B) Wheel isn't lamenting anything about champions, come on now. They really don't care about ratings beyond their sweep weeks, and it's NCAA time anyways.

I agree on B, and that's a shame, but oh well. We've realized that for years now. We can want it a lot, whine, bitch, piss, and moan to be senile, but I'm pretty sure it'll never happen again. But A, yes, if Ellen picks this (note: not Wheel, that's something Liotta tossed around like 5 years ago-- or arguably Emil, that one's a pipe dream too, guys, unless it was Mario or me), it would be...and why would PB not want their site promoted? That doesn't add up to me, as all parties benefit, from holder (Proboards), to user (me/us), and representational (Ellen). I've read the TOS, as I've had to when I got the site, originally, and just now...there's nothing about external representation of the board. Further, Ellen, like WOF, is syndie. There's nothing holding that form of representation back. Heck, they use Tumblr a lot in that segment, so don't see where you're going with that point.

Hooray, more stuff for you to pay taxes on! I bet you weren't expecting the experience to extend this much, were you Emil? I noticed you said after getting Ellen's gifts, "How am I going to get this on the plane?" That was priceless.

And even Adult Swim is getting in on the fun:

^ They removed the T from the chyron but not the S, L, or M? -_- Ruins the whole thing. (Though I like how they dubbed over Emil's voice with the real timer cue. I wonder if they simply got it from another episode)

Yeah, Adult Swim could have done better. No matter what happens, they're probably unable to top Randy Marsh.

Awesome memes are awesome, especially that 2nd one.
I'll admit that the Adult Swim video isn't as awesome as it could be since they didn't take out the other letters needed to make it work, but they make it work anyway since Emil won Unlimited Butt Cream (you had to pause to catch it, cause it goes by so fast).
Also, I love this piece from an AV Club article about the win...
