Could you link to the article, JJ? Just curious to see what else is in there. Still, the quoted portion would be a pretty accurate description of Harry (plus, hey, AV Club knows how long Wheel's really been on; kudos for that) were it not for the fact he's the one who has final say on all puzzles used during tapings. As such, if Friedman wanted a stupid hard bonus puzzle, he'd probably make it himself. (Lord knows I have my suspicions about those In the Brochure puzzles.) Even though BGYU(W) gets the snark, as I said in my initial post of this thread...yeah, I suppose Emil's quick solve didn't particularly keep Harry's blood pressure down, especially since it was for $45,000. Although it ended up being a positive thanks to all this good publicity post-airing, Friedman was probably still fuming for subsequent taping days...but IIRC, that remains to be seen even with precedent (Celebrating 30 taping day). "How about WILDLY HAPPY GUY, boss?" "Yeah, Lou, that sounds like a great one. Any others?" "...FINICKY BABY comes to mind." "Also great. The comments are worth looking through, if only for a laugh, but among the more notable: * Bashing of the "EVOLVING as What Are You Doing?" that Wheel pulled the other night and the low quality of certain puzzles. * Mentions of Caitlin Burke's one-letter solve, including a link to the Esquire article on it. * A line of discussion regarding the Price Is Right perfect Showcase bid in 2008 and how Drew reacted to it, including a link to the Esquire article on the mess...although they evidently didn't read from the end of Page 3 onward. * A joking theory as to how Emil solved the bonus puzzle: ...which in all honesty would've made that Wheel Creepypasta a bit more interesting. Or...we could always set up a match on the iOS game assuming both of you have it. And if that isn't feasible, perhaps a very special episode of Wheel of Fortune Live is? *shrug* |

All I'm saying is an episode with me and Emil both on would be so epic. And it could be a two person only game, like 4/1/97, and Alex could host this as well, and it could be a real barn burner. It could come down to the final spin, and that could be critical with Alex hosting since, you know, the wheel's only going three spaces. Better hope the wheel's on $700 when the bells ring. :lol: I will say that one more thing. One thing I love about moments like this (or Arthur Chu on Jeopardy! or the broken daytime record on Price) is that it makes its run on the news circuit and you really see how many people still love these shows. I'm glad to see that even after all these years, and the huge drop in ratings following the introduction of competent internet (see post-2005), people are indeed still watching. |

And if that isn't feasible, perhaps a very special episode of Wheel of Fortune Live is? *shrug* Maybe, but during the last game we played, the lag for most users was disastrous, and I would feel obligated to structure the game exactly like the show, which would mean I'd need to add more tokens to the Wheel and do all three Toss-Ups, and doing just one could be a mess with the lag issues. I'll consider a Dan vs. Emil vs. Josh/Joseph match for the future, though. I have the iOS game so I would love to volunteer as a third player. |

Here's another interview with Emil on an LA morning radio show. The DJ trying to explain WOF at the beginning made me cringe.  I hate when people think "buying" refers to any letter and refer to puzzles as "Phrases" even when that's not the category. And nobody told the poor guy that WOF isn't going to a Tournament of Champions in a million years. |

Toss-Ups: Quick solve for Emil in the $2,000 one. Only three letters were revealed.
R1: Perfect round for Emil.
R2: There were eight T’s in the puzzle. Kendra got a lot of money and the 1/2 Car.
R3: Emil has a lot of money and the Prize Puzzle trip to Cabo San Lucas.
R4: Got it after all the vowels were bought.
R5: Emil’s BANKRUPT was the only penalty hit of the game.
BR: Emil’s NEW BABY BUGGY solve was the most amazing puzzle solve in Wheel of Fortune history. Only two letters were revealed. There was no help from his extra letters.
