This is the 22nd-Anniversary State Challenge, on Australia's favourite game, Wheel of Fortune!
Wheel is now available in HD! The set has been cleaned up a little bit to look...well, clean!
We welcome three contestants from New South Wales for Heat 1, and each contestant plays for their own home viewer!
Somebody could also win a new Renault Clio Expression!
Home viewers can also share from a total of $150,000 in cash just for watching!
Today's contestants:
Gene Brennan
Leanne Tulloch
Alison Smith
Note: Home partners were required to solve a puzzle to be eligible.
The top-dollar value on the Wheel is 750, and we begin Round 1:
Leanne begins to ask for a "great", but stops herself and asks for the G.
Leanne solves GHOST TRAIN STATION.
She wins Sfida sportswear just for solving. Her home partner has just won $500 in cash.
We have the Mystery Round for each heat as well. What will you do? You could flip over the BANKRUPT, or you could find a 6-day Phuket holiday worth $10,000.
The top-dollar value on the Wheel is upgraded to 1,500 for Round 2:
Gene solves ALARM ? GRANDFATHER ? DIGITAL ? to keep the holiday. He did miss the lucky F though. All that's left is to fill in the blank!
He's correct with clock.
Finally the prize. He gets a pair of Pocketmails, and his home partner gets $1,000 cash.
We begin Round 3:
RRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNGGGG!
I guess it was not the celebrities a while back. We're overtime, so Rob will give the Wheel a spin. Consonants are worth 180.
Gene: R
Leanne: L (Lucky L!)
Leanne quickly solves ERIC BANA HULK.
She gets his/hers Coinwatch watches, and her partner has $1,500 more! We can't waste time!
The top-dollar is now 2,500 for Round 4:
Rob will give the Wheel a spin. Consonants are worth 595. Gene might have an advantage right now:
Gene: N (DUD!)
Leanne: R (DUD!)
Alison: T (x2)
Gene: S
Leanne: H
Leanne solves PETTY CASH.
She gets the final prize, a Philips DVD player and year of Video Ezy rentals; her partner gets $2,000 additional cash.
The consolation prizes are Doro cordless phones and Parker Pens. All contestants receive the Wheel of Fortune board game.
BONUS ROUND:
The prize for the contestant could be...
Liebherr electronic wine cellar ($4,299)
Trip to Vanuatu and stay at a waterfront bungalow ($7,160)
Renault Clio Expression ($22,500)
The home viewer can still win an additional $5,000 cash!
With 1,910, Gene is stuck with two consonants and a vowel. The Golden Wheel spins, and lands on...
Oneida sparkling glassware and cutlery ($4,640)
The final puzzle is:
Can it come from RN, and E?
Unfortunately, he does not solve A KING'S RANSOM.
One more thing. Somebody is going to win the money no matter what. A fourth home viewer is now $5,000 richer!
Gene still has his prizes, and his home viewer still has $1,000 in cash.
