This is the 22nd-Anniversary State Challenge, on Australia's favourite game, Wheel of Fortune!
We welcome three contestants from Western Australia for a heat, and each contestant plays for their own home viewer!
Somebody could also win a new Renault Clio Expression!
Home viewers can also share from a total of $150,000 in cash just for watching!
For this game, Melanie Symons will fill in for Sophie.
For the record, Melanie was a celebrity contestant recently. She made it to the end, but fell just short of solving A PAT ON THE BACK.
Today's contestants:
Lindsay Garey (male)
Bryan Marshall
Diane Piper
The top-dollar value on the Wheel is 750, and we begin our first puzzle:
Diane solves TO CUT CORNERS. Melanie forgets to turn the first O until Rob reminds her.
We cut to the prize: she wins a Telstra phone system, and her home partner wins $500 cash.
It's all or nothing with the Mystery Round. Do you want to go for a prize? There could be a BANKRUPT, or there could be a 6-day Singapore holiday.
The top-dollar value on the Wheel is upgraded to 1,500.
Melanie has to be reminded about the first E as well.
Lindsay solves THE PUPPET WHO BECAME A REAL BOY. Truth be told, I don't know for sure if he'll answer the clue, but I think he will...
...he does with Pinocchio.
He's also earned a Myer Grace Bros. furnished Russian print, while his partner gets $1,000 cash.
We begin our third round:
RRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNGGGG!
Overtime again, so Rob will give the Wheel a spin. Consonants are worth 500.
Bryan: J
Bryan solves TOM JONES IT'S NOT UNUSUAL. Melanie forgets to turn the A now.
That makes three, so he gets Coinwatch his/hers watches. Same for the home partners, as his gets $1,500 cash.
The top-dollar is now 2,500.
Rob will give the Wheel a spin. Consonants are worth 295. Almost always the red one, isn't it?
Lindsay: S
Bryan: N (DUD!)
Diane: R
Lindsay: K (DUD!)
Bryan: T (x2)
Diane: G (DUD!)
Lindsay: H
Bryan: L
Diane: C (DUD!)
Lindsay: P (x2)
Lindsay solves PRIVATE HOSPITAL.
We do know Lindsay's getting a Samsung digital camera and his partner is getting $2,000 cash.
The consolation prizes are Prima coffee/tea makers and Parker Pens. All contestants receive the Wheel of Fortune board game.
BONUS ROUND:
Like before, the chances have improved. Lindsay could win...
TravelPilot DX-V ($4,200)
Trip to Daintree and stay at Eco Lodge ($5,286)
Renault Clio Expression ($22,500)
He could also get his home viewer an additional $5,000 cash!
With 4,120, Lindsay may pick four consonants and a vowel. The Golden Wheel spins, and lands on...
Technika stainless steel programmable oven ($5,240)
We picked this final puzzle specifically for him:
He'll fight back with TBNS, and E:
He does not solve TO BE IN HOT PURSUIT. The vowels successfully target him.
As a result, a fourth home viewer wins the $5,000 cash!
Lindsay still has his prizes, and his home viewer still has $3,000 cash!
