Does anyone know what the record is for the number of puzzles in a single show (including the tossups and bonus round)? Thanks.

The record is 11 puzzles: 3 Toss-Ups, 7 regular rounds, and the Bonus Round, achieved on June 2, 2004 and September 22, 2005. Thanks for your question and thanks for joining Buy a Vowel Boards.

Welcome! Yeah...they don't have video of that episode. That's not the only one, there was also one in season 21, I believe? Credit to the timeline website.

jacobr1020: Because of the puzzle archive, which itself was compiled from a site called "Evil Petting Zoo" that is no longer online. 3/19/02 also had eleven puzzles. I know this because it was mentioned on alt.tv.game-shows. If I recall correctly, R7 was HAIR CARE and it took a long time to solve even after someone called the C.

Because of the timeline website. The 9/22/05 episode was even mentioned on the 12/23/13 recap. I asked a similar question to nomercy - if there was an episode with 11 puzzles. The most that episodes usually have are 10 (6 rounds).

You sure? I tried it just now. With :80 in the URL, it says "can't find the server", and without it, it says "this hostname has been deactivated".

It just seems that having 7 rounds doesn't sound possible.

^ I think the 2005 one had a contestant solve HOW SWEET IT IS in R5 with only the T's and S's, which surely freed up some time.

^ Because I remember watching the episode, and I remember having it with only the T's.

I remember the 2005 episode, but I never knew about the 2004 one.

It just seems that having 7 rounds doesn't sound possible. It also depends on the puzzles. On 9/22/05, I see how Rounds 1 and 4 could be "one-lettered", while Rounds 3 and 5 could be "no-lettered". I'm also assuming Round 7 began as a Speed-Up.
