Well, I had a bad feeling that was going to be the answer, which was why I desperately wanted another reason. And guess what? I still want one!

That's probably the only reason, though. Plus maybe they want to save a little money. You'll have to ask Harry Friedman if you ever come across him.

The old-school WoF fan in me is going "And your problem is?" That said, I DO think the current rule is a tick inconsistent, but it's not too much of a pain in the neck.

Please tell me that the Wild Card not being lost to Bankrupt is one of S32 confirmed changes. I see no reason for the Wild Card to be lost to Bankrupt.

I hate to say this, jmo, but I see just as much cause to make the Wild Card just as vulnerable to Bankrupt as Double Play, which I also felt should've been vulnerable. As for the Free Spin, if that was vulnerable to Bankrupts, that's something I would've been upset over.

Is it really worth it to have to give up the Wild Card to Bankrupt? It's not the same as a gift tag or a prize wedge. The item itself doesn't give any bonus money added to one's total for solving the puzzle. All it does is allow a contestant an extra consonant along the way, either in the maingame or in the Bonus Round. I have a board game of Wheel of Fortune at home where I cut out elements from sheets of paper, and my family plays as contestants. In some of these most recent games, I don't have the Wild Card lost to Bankrupt. I don't think it's worth it. Gift tags, prize wedges and such make sense because they're valuable, but the Wild Card is only good for a letter.

Double Play is believed to have been immune to Bankrupt (although it's not confirmed because in all circulating S13 episodes where it's picked up, the contestant never hits Bankrupt while holding it).
I see your point, jmo. The Wild Card is currently the only cardboard that doesn't have to be won by solving a puzzle. It's second most prone to Bankrupt (the first being the 1/2 Car tags since there are two). As much as I would like to see it "safe", it would seem odd for them to change that rule so suddenly. It's kind of too late to do it now, although they could always put it back on the Wheel in the next round.
As annoying as it is to see it lost to Bankrupt every other show, my main issue with the Wild Card is that people don't know how to use it properly without Pat's inconsistent help.

jmo, no cardboard is immune to BANKRUPT. Period. Star Bonus was...which probably wasn't the best idea, from what I can tell. It might have stuck around a bit longer had they gone that route, possibly with a rule of "We'll put it back on the Wheel for Rounds 2 and 3." As much as I would like to see it "safe", it would seem odd for them to change that rule so suddenly. I love this line, if only because of all the other things they've changed suddenly with no explanation.

While I agree that a Wild Card is really just useful during consonant calling and the final round, it still brings a positive result, so I think it still should be susceptible by Bankrupt. Correct me if I'm wrong though, but if a player plays a Wild Card and calls a wrong letter, they lose the turn right? What about make the Wild Card letter just a freebie call so that if it is wrong playing the item with the risk of losing a turn would be negated. I forgot if they return the Wild Card during the rounds if it is used though....

I don't think that players don't use it because they don't know how to use it. An extra consonant in the BR gives more money than a second consonant in a regular wedge value (including the $5,000 wedge).

An extra consonant in the BR gives more money than a second consonant in a regular wedge value (including the $5,000 wedge). I HEAVILY contest this. HEAVILY. WC frequencies for S31: Maingame: Dud: 2 Single: 7 Double: 3 Triple: 1 TOTAL: 13
BR: Dud: 7 Single: 10 TOTAL: 17 WC frequencies for S29-31:
Maingame: Dud: 5 Single: 11 Double: 12 Triple: 4 Quadruple: 1 TOTAL: 33
BR: Dud: 31 Single: 20 Double: 5 TOTAL: 56

The frequency of the letters doesn't say anything really relevant. I am refering to the fact that if you use the WC in the maingame, at the $5,000 wedge in the best of the cases, you could win... An extra $5,000? $10K or even $15K, in the better case? Puzzles of R4+ only have two lines, so it's very rare to find a consonant that it's more than three times. But if you use it in the BR... Who knows? That extra consonant could give you the key to win the $32K, $35K... or even the $100K of the envelope.

If a player uses the Wild Card and calls a wrong letter, they lose their turn and the card is gone for the rest of the show. What I was mainly saying is that many contestants don't even know you CAN use it in the main game, which is why Pat always has to (but sometimes doesn't) tell them about it. While they're at it, they should also increase the awareness of having one. A little WC icon next to the score can't hurt. The only way you can tell someone has one is if you see a ridge on the railing and it's purplish enough to not be a Gift Tag or 1/2 Car tag.

The only way you can tell someone has one is if you see a ridge on the railing and it's purplish enough to not be a Gift Tag or 1/2 Car tag. My idea was that all cardboard (including the Wild Card) could be displayed on the video wall behind the players, most likely using three color-coded vertical rectangles that would also show each player's grand total from prior rounds. The rectangles could also have "indentations" for each add-on, which would result in a nice effect if one is picked up, although the players would still have their cardboard in front of them. Mind you, I'm not sure whether the non-Wild Card/MDW/Half-Car graphics would stay present after the round in which they're claimed (possibly split the "cardboard acquired" portion under the name/score vertically into "picked up" and "claimed" sections?), but if they did then casual viewers might get confused and wonder if, for example, the $10,000 Mystery Wedge was still at risk. And yes, I realize this change would result in Harry not being able to show America his vacation footage, but at least the contestant video wall would have an actual purpose.

In the past 3 seasons, 28/33 maingame uses have been successful (not a dud), only 25/56 in the BR. That's a significant difference. If in the BR it's a dud, you wasted the WC, you should have used it in the maingame, because $2500 is still $2500 compared to $0 in the BR.

If there is one thing I hope, it's for the "No More Vowels" graphic and the music packages to change. The "No More Vowels" graphic and main theme have been unchanged since Season 24. Nobody wants to hear this theme anymore, do they? Also, when are they gonna change the Toss-Up wipes and category strips? I'm getting bored of still seeing these.

TBH jmo, you're right. The graphics and music should change. I liked the season 21-22 graphics/music the best...but then again, they most likely won't do it.

Yes, that's the official title card for the new season. Hopefully we'll get a clearer version soon. I don't get it? If this is the official title card for Season 32, then why were the producers fooling us with that picture of the production slates that showed the Season 31 motif? I thought the title card was going to be 100% unchanged from Season 31.
