This is the 20th-Anniversary State Challenge, on Australia's favourite game, Wheel of Fortune!
We welcome three contestants from Western Australia for Heat 2, and each contestant plays for their own home viewer!
The winner of the challenge will be headed to Thailand, and somebody could also win a new Daewoo Tacuma!
Today's contestants:
BettyJo De Sousa
Kylie Herd
Ben Croker
Your score to beat is 5,860 by Wendy.
The top-dollar value on the Wheel is 750.
Perfection! BettyJo solves THE DOORS RIDERS ON THE STORM.
She and her home partner storm towards a Tiffany appliance package.
The top-dollar value on the Wheel is upgraded to 1,500.
Yes, Rob, you heard right. There are no T's in the puzzle.
Ben solves NUMBER OF DAYS IN A LEAP YEAR. Will he leap to a bonus 200?
Easily with an answer of 366.
He and his home partner go the extra mile for some Pan Macmillan Australia books.
We begin our next round:
RRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNGGGG!
Now really. If we went any faster, the Earth would melt. Well, Rob will give the Wheel a spin, and consonants are worth 385.
BettyJo: S
BettyJo solves CHARLTON HESTON BEN HUR.
Maintaining a semi-perfect record, she claims for herself and her partner...a Masport Genius lawn mower.
The top-dollar is now 2,500.
Rob will give the Wheel a spin, and consonants are worth 265. BettyJo will lead the way.
BettyJo: T (x2)
Kylie: S
Ben: N (DUD!)
BettyJo: R
Kylie: Y (DUD!)
Ben: M (DUD!)
BettyJo: B (x2)
BettyJo solves BOTTLEBRUSH. Unfortunately, she couldn't release the lucky H.
Still, she wins a Coffex Coffee package.
As the champion today, Ben's home partner receives a $2,000 bonus.
It just couldn't happen for Kylie. She and BettyJo each receive a pair of Royal Selangor goblets and Parker Pens. Their home partners each receive a $500 consolation prize.
It couldn't happen for Ben either, as he falls 480 short.
BONUS ROUND:
Let's try to end this right. We have plenty of prizes including the Daewoo Tacuma!
With 5,380, Ben has earned four consonants and a vowel. The Golden Wheel spins, and lands on...
Whirlpool washer/dryer and dishwasher ($3,500)
How's this puzzle for size?
How are RDST, and A for size?
Not a fit. He does not solve SURFING THE NET. (Oddly, Rob asks if Ben has a computer just before time runs out, and he doesn't.)
He has still won some books as well as $2,000 for his home partner.
