I recently found a new wheel-maker app on the iOS App Store called SpinnyWheel. Like YouSpin, another wheel-maker app that most of us are aware of, it's only $0.99. In my opinion, this is better than YouSpin for many reasons - You can make some wedges wider or narrower than others - You can choose whether landing on a certain wedge will give a neutral, positive, or negative reaction - You can customize messages that tell you what you landed on - The app automatically records "spin history" statistics for a Wheel, so you can see what wedges have been getting hit most often - The pointer is animated and the Wheels are given pegs - You can set your own image as the Wheel's background I made a WOF background that looks great against the best I could make for the show's Wheels: Check it out! And be sure to leave reviews in the app store so that it can get updated with more features.

It should be pointed out that, if you're like me and didn't have enough space/want to update to iOS 7, it won't let you use it.

God dammit. Fucking developers once again failing to realize that most people are using Android these days over shitty iOS.

The developer has his Email address in the app. I'll see if I can suggest an Android version.

Once I saw this last night, I went out to get an iTunes card. It's a lotta fun! BTW, MarioGS, you wouldn't mind sharing that background with us, would you? I'd be pleased to have it, and I am also inspired to try and make my own backgrounds for this.

For those with iPhones/iPods pre-5th generation... s3.postimg.cc/3xspj67r7/Spinny_Wheel_WOFPrev.pngSpecial thanks to gameshow75 for sharing a screenshot of my background in action on his older model. Now, if anyone could share an iPad screenshot of the app, that'd be great.

Hi Folks - The developer of SpinnyWheel checking in! Glad to see some of you are using my app, I'm an indie developer and this was my first iOS app. There is no Android version yet, but if the iOS sales continue to grow just a little bit more I may be able to invest the time into an Android version. It's just not viable to develop both as a side project or single man 'studio'.
I love the background you created, and I'd really like to post it on the SpinnyWheel.com website as an example of a fantastic use of the customization features. Would this be okay with you MarioGS if I posted the version with this boards url and your name on it for credit?
Please feel free to reach out to me via the email in app if you have any questions or requests!

Welcome to the Buy A Vowel Board, spinnywheel. It's great to have you here. I'm glad you're able to see just how much we enjoy this app. Now since you're here, there's one problem I wanted I address to you. There have been times where the app freezes when I go to spin. The app doesn't even crash either. So I have to restart my iPod if I really, really wanted to use it. So if you could please fix that, that'd be great. BTW, to have a username be a link just put the @ symbol before their username (no spaces).

Hi, SpinnyWheel developer! Thanks for joining. Of course you may use my WOF background. Thanks! Although you might want to add a disclaimer somewhere that there is no affiliation with WOF involved. Unfortunately, I don't have an iPad, so I can't make a background for that version for the time being, but I'd love to try the app on there someday. Nothing like spinning a much bigger Wheel. Judging by the screenshots on your site, it looks like the iPad version can run in both landscape and portrait modes. Maybe one day, I'll even get around to making a retro WOF background with the older Wheel base. This is your first app? You really outdid yourself. I've tried just about all the wheel maker apps I could find and yours easily comes out on top. No other app allowed for a custom background or being able to make some wedges wider than others. I have a lot of fun with the app making and spinning Wheels, but I do have a few suggestions if you're open to them... - The app lets you choose from three different "themes", each of which have certain things different among them, like the color and shape of the flipper, the font for the wheel wedges, the color of the Wheel's border, and the color of the Wheel's center. What if we could simply choose these factors ourselves? I really like the wheel font used in the "Dark Days" theme compared to the Default theme, but I don't stick with that theme mainly because there's no flipper in the iPhone/iPod version. - When recreating the WOF Wheels, it was pretty hard to make the Million Dollar Wedge (Bankrupt/One Million/Bankrupt) close to how it looks on the show when resizing it with the "percentage slider". Perhaps it would be easier to size it based on a fraction of the general current wedge size instead of a percentage, and then that could allow an even number of pegs to appear around the circumference of the wheel to make it look cleaner, instead of just one peg per section regardless of size. - Seeing that this app is great for organizations to use as a prize wheel, how about an option to either change the color and size of the circle in the wheel's center or substitute it with a custom image like we can with the background? This way, companies can add their own logo to the Wheel's center. - An option to control how loosely or tightly the wheel spins would be nice. It takes quite a long time to slow down as it is, although it's good for suspense. - A closeup view option to make the Wheel and pointer area more visible (like the overhead "Wheel landing" shot on WOF), especially on iPhones. - In addition to the current "lives" option where a wedge gets removed after being hit a certain amount of times, maybe an option to remove it or replace it with another wedge voluntarily with a tap once it's hit. - An option to fill the wedge with a picture instead of a color and text. Even more possibilities for custom graphics! The fact that wedges currently support Emoji is a major plus already. - Maybe an option to arrange the wedge text vertically instead of horizontally? I understand you must be very busy. These are just simple suggestions and not demands. I'm already very happy with the app and it's given me tons of enjoyment for 99 cents. The only major gripes I have are that fonts are stuck with themes and the "Dark Days" theme is missing the flipper. Other than that it's worth every penny. I hope you make a decent profit off the app. Good luck with future projects!

HI!
Thanks so much for the kind words! SpinnyWheel was indeed my first app, I've been a web developer for awhile. I've also release an app to count and score things called 'CountandScore' (countandscore.com) in case that may be useful for your game as a scorekeeper.
These are great suggestions, some of which I considered as features when building the app, but decided against. It's always tough to find the balance between ensuring the app is simple enough for people to use just to throw together a wheel to decide dinner, and flexible enough to allow specialty use folks like yourself to have the ability to stretch the app to the limits. This is why the theme system is setup like it is, to avoid a complicated menu of options and such. However, I am reconsidering perhaps putting an 'advanced' section into the wheel setting and allowing more granular customization.
There are 3 items on your list that are planned for an upcoming release:
+ Adjust the size / probability of a choice by entering a number instead of just using the slider for more accuracy on wheels with a lot of choices. + Adjustable friction setting on the wheel, my intention was to set it to the sweet spot for suspense, but I now realize some people just want to get to the selection faster + Fixing the bug where the Dark Days theme pointer is invisible
Here's the rub in case anyone cares, so much of the success of failure of an app is based on getting search and chart rankings, which is in turn highly influenced by the number of ratings and reviews your app has. HOWEVER, Apple resets your ratings and reviews anytime you make an update, so I've had the fix for the pointer issue ready to update for weeks now but won't pull the trigger. I can't risk the moderate sales to fix the small bug or make new themes, until I've gotten enough ratings and visibility to sustain a hit in rankings from an update. It's a system that really appears to favor the large publishers over indie guys like myself.
With that said, keep an eye out for an update in early summer with some of these requests - I'll check back here as well to see if anyone else has ideas that I can get into the app and thanks again for purchasing and taking the time to provide me some valuable feedback!

Good to know. I bought Countandscore and it's great! Much better than the older scorekeeper app I had. It's very clean and easy to use. Here's how a WOF game might look. Thanks for taking my suggestions into consideration. Can't wait for the update. I also rated both your apps 5 stars for support.
