Courtesy of Chad Mosher: An article from Deadspin revealing some leaked emails as part of the SPE hacking reveal how the NFL/CBS Thursday Night Football programming left Wheel and J! in a bind with preempting their shows. Included are some emails between Harry Friedman and an exec with Sony and some at CBS. (I'm just hoping the contestant databases (former and in the pool) were not part of the hack). One of the interesting tidbits is one of the emails from Friedman shows that they had to move the latest million dollar win episode to Wednesday instead of Thursday because a lot of the affiliates were going to have it preempted (you can tell he is understandably not happy about having to move it). deadspin.com/how-cbs-and-the-nfl-teamed-up-to-screw-wheel-of-fortune-1670315974?utm_campaign=socialflow_deadspin_twitter&utm_source=deadspin_twitter&utm_medium=socialflowAlso talks about how Jeopardy was under a crunch regarding putting in an NFL category to "advertise" the lead in and the work they had to go through to make it happen, but the NFL still didn't like it. At the end of the article, Friedman proposes a technology idea where basically a person can choose whether to watch the pre-game show and record the pre-empted show or vice versa. The article praises the idea (and an idea I personally like). Thoughts on the article?

I have it on good authority that 'Wheel' and 'Jeopardy' contestant databases are completely safe.

I actually do like that idea. I'm also glad to see Harry standing up for WOF and J!

I figured there'd be a bit more action here when it was shown that they had to switch the 3rd million dollar win to air on a lower rated night simply to make sure it aired everywhere.
So what can they do to mitigate this next season - and for that matter, the length of the deal between CBS and the NFL? A lot of early season duds on Thursday?

Josh, I also heard from decent authority that the databases weren't compromised shortly after I posted this thread. However, with word about all this employee data being compromised, it was only natural to wonder if contestant information was mixed in with the employees. Especially in the accounting department.
I like Harry's idea, but I would see every major sports league including NCAA fighting it tooth and nail because I'm sure they wouldn't want to lose even the accidental viewers or those who feel stuck with watching until their show comes on when it comes to ratings. Every tenth of a point could mean a fortune.
I will say it is interesting and other people have noted on various outlets that Harry is the first "Sony Exec" to actually look good with all of these emails being leaked with how he stuck up for his shows and the technology proposal he made.

The funny thing if this is true is that the emails start when the million taped.
