If Jeopardy allows kids or teens to be contestants on their show, why can't Wheel?
Your thoughts, please?

Of course, Wheel allows teens to be on the show. On Teen Best Friends Week.

I don't think Wheel allows kids to be on Wheel because they are probably too short to reach and spin the wheel.

I don't think Wheel allows kids to be on Wheel because they are probably too short to reach and spin the wheel. Plus, the wheel has a lot of resistance to it (I don't like to say heavy as I'm not picking it up). I would have serious doubts about a kid on the smaller end being able to move it more than a few wedges unless they have a way to tinker with the resistance.

They appear to have tightened the Wheel over the years, most likely for air time. There has been a drastic drop in the number of guys who can come close to a full revolution. And when was the last time a contestant came close to 1.5 revolutions?
Point is though, I'm sure they could re-loosen it if they wanted or were allowed.

If CBS still has the Wheel 2000 wheel, they COULD use that, but that wheel was like molasses when it spun. The show would be lucky to get a couple of rounds in within 30 minutes.
Isn't the tightness of the wheel determined by the strength of the elastics on the flippers? I'm going off of E!THS, where Ed Flesh said the wheel wouldn't stop. That era didn't have flippers on the wheel.
I think the wheel would be the only setback to doing a kids week. The only solution I can think of is having silent staff members spin the wheel for the kids. No parents as they can talk with the kids, which would defeat the purpose of having a kids show since the adults could influence the decisions, in which case the kids are more puppets than self deciding players.

That era didn't have flippers on the wheel. While those flippers are solid thick rubber (and they hurt if you get your fingers caught between them), it's definitely internal components that play the major factor to controlling the resistance of the wheel.

...Boy, this is kind of a difficult question. As far as I know, Wheel's never given an official reason for not doing Kids Weeks, but I can think of two reasons: 1) The total failure of Wheel 2000, although that's more Scott Sternberg's fault (for thinking the show needed to be altered) and CBS' (for having the lowest-rated Saturday-morning lineup of the networks that season). 2) Harry can't pull the same hard bonus puzzles and crap other puzzles on kids -- otherwise, everybody would be quoting a certain line from that one Pink Floyd song. Isn't the tightness of the wheel determined by the strength of the elastics on the flippers? I'm going off of E!THS, where Ed Flesh said the wheel wouldn't stop. That era didn't have flippers on the wheel. Flesh was specifically referring to the "pointers" used for the 1974 pilots. They were made a bit better for the series, although they switched to the flippers relatively quickly.
