You know one thing I've always wondered? If the woman who had $62K on that "The Thrill of Victory and The Agony of Defeat" puzzle had actually won it, how much money would she/could she have had prior to the bonus round? I bring it up because it's amazing that someone could amass that much money then as they could now.

That woman would have had $72,400 as she also missed $10,000 in a $5K Speed-Up round. And that was the shopping era too. We will NEVER see anyone amass $62K+ all-cash in a regular round without the help of Pat again because of the "two rows" rule for R4+.
I decided to do some math and see what Matt would've had with last season's Wheel. He landed on four "new" wedges (pink $650, blue $600, yellow $700, blue $550) and the differences between their old counterparts would total a difference of $1,800, so if this were Season 31, Matt would've finished with a still very impressive $90,092.

^ Speaking of Terry, I just did a little figuring, and her $62,400 nighttime total would have translated to $26,400 in daytime. Would that have been considered impressive by late-1985 NBC standards?

Interesting observation. Although it seems that on this season is more common that most rounds end with more than $5K won, the difference wouldn't have been very big.

But let's not forget the practice of using the entire fourth segment for shopping if a higher five-digit figure was won. If she did solve Round 3 with that much, there would not have been a fourth round (unless she bought only bonus prizes and put more than $4,000 on account).

Well, after checking out YouTube, I notice people are making a bigger deal of Matt's Caitlyn Burke-style solve than the fact that he swept the game for $91,000. I wonder what's going to be bigger: Matt or Caitlyn. Still, if we were to have another Some of the Greats week, I guarantee both will be on.

It's easier to post the 30 second clip of his solve than doing what Wayoshi did by posting the whole episode for proof of the $91k game sweep. And I'm biased to say that Emil is going to be bigger .

Hi all. I'm finally getting around to checking out more of what this site contains. I've poked around here and there but haven't dived in, so to speak. I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who commented on here for your well wishes and for watching the show. It was without a doubt a great time and an experience I'll never forget. I'll keep poking around the site but if anyone wants to guide me to the best links to check out I'd definitely appreciate it. Thanks again! - Matt

Well, mfdesanto, if you really want to sharpen your puzzle-solving skills, you can check out our Game On! Forum and join a mock Wheel of Fortune game, or check out our Daily Puzzle Game, which is quite a fun challenge. You can also take a look at Real Wheels for cool Wheel fanart, and perhaps best for you, we have the "Spinning Stories" board within Buying Your Time, where you can share your Wheel experience story and go as in-depth as you like. Enjoy the site! See you around!
