Per various sources, including the Wall Street Journal, the NFL and CBS have reached an agreement to renew Thursday Night Football for the 2015 season with an NFL option for 2016. The deal includes eight games to be carried on CBS, similar to the coverage this season. Assuming that CBS continues the same schedule for their pre-game show and kickoff timing (which I don't see a good reason that they wouldn't), this means that CBS affiliates will once again see their 7:30 ET programming preempted on those eight Thursdays in the coming year, which may include Wheel and/or Jeopardy. I know this is still a long ways off, as the 2014 season hasn't even finished yet, but I figured it deserved a quick mention so folks know to watch their local listings and plan ahead in the future.

I still don't understand why any regular-season sporting event requires fifty minutes of pregame coverage, but whatever.·······················NvtGWiwZ

I still don't understand why any regular-season sporting event requires fifty minutes of pregame coverage, but whatever. To build up every possible storyline that could come from a 3 hour football game, only to be let down when the game is a blowout/disaster. This is even more accurate for the Thursday night games. Colts/Texans may have been the only good Thursday game all year. Pats/Jets was close, but it was an awful game to watch. The Raiders beat the Chiefs in a close game, but I'll repeat for effect: Raiders and Chiefs. Cards/Rams was a tragedy unless you have a fondness for field goal kickers, and they ended the Thursday slate with Titans/Jags. Each episode of Wheel of Fortune is more exciting than almost every TNF game. I wonder what happens to their ratings in that 7:30-8 EST time slot when they preempt Wheel. They can't be trending up, right?
