This year, there are strangely only three nominees for the Outstanding Game Show category and Wheel isn't one of them. The nominees are Family Feud, The Price is Right, and Jeopardy! I think we all know which one is going to win... :eyebrow: However, Wheel wasn't completely snubbed. Pat Sajak received a nomination for Outstanding Game Show host along with Celebrity Name Game's Craig Ferguson, Family Feud's Steve Harvey, and Family Game Night's Todd Newton. Wheel also received a nomination for Outstanding Lighting Direction, running against Central American Games, Ellen, Rachael Ray, and Sesame Street. Wheel won this award last year. Full list: emmyonline.com/day_42nd_nominationsJeopardy! is the only game show to have more than two nominations. It is also nominated for Outstanding Direction in a Game Show (with Let's Make a Deal and The Chase) and Outstanding Technical Team (with CBS This Morning, Good Morning America, Sesame Street, and Steve Harvey). Alex will host the Daytime Creative Arts Emmys along with Florence Henderson, which is not aired on TV. The proper award ceremony will air on April 26 on new network Pop.

Watch Rachael Ray win best lighting direction. That said, it saddens me to see Outstanding Game Show is relegated to just three shows, given that GSN has The Chase, It Takes A Church, Baggage, and Idiotest, while CBS has LMAD and still going strong, we still have Let's Ask America (surprised it's still on) and Millionaire (possibly the last season, but its still on). Sadly, daytime TV just isn't the juggernaut it once was, with just four soap operas, numerous cable channels airing RERUNS and RERUNS of tired shows and numerous B-movies and classics, paid programming infomercials, and still too many talk shows. Yes, there are hundreds, if not thousands of channels, but that doesn't mean that the number of noms can be reduced. IMO Daytime will never be like it was from the 1950s-90s, with a nice mix of talk shows, soap operas, game shows, and original syndicated programming.

Unfortunately, Wheel was 0 for 2. The Outstanding Lighting Direction award went to Ellen. The Outstanding Game Show Host award went to Craig Ferguson for Celebrity Name Game.

The don't even care about Outstanding Game Show host anymore, I like Craig but I think they just gave it to him because he was the new kid on the block. Seems the way it's gone a lot of the time in the last few years, at least where game shows are concerned.

Seems the way it's gone a lot of the time in the last few years, at least where game shows are concerned. Due to the format of the show, Craig Ferguson has the opportunity, time wise, to show a lot more personality. Pat and Vanna have a great rapport, but most of the 22 minutes is spent on the game and not on them. What's more surprising to me is that Wayne Brady hasn't won yet for Let's Make a Deal. Congrats to Pat on being nominated and congrats to Craig on the win!

Well I'm not that much of a loyalist or fanboy that I think Pat should win every year but I also don't think every newcomer to the genre deserves an Emmy. That's all I'm saying. I will agree though that it's disappointing that Wayne hasn't won yet.
