It seems to me that most players who pick up the Wild Card never think to use it unless they land on Top Dollar, because they want to win the game and take it to the bonus round. However, most of these players quickly lose the Wild Card by hitting a Bankrupt not long afterward. If I were in their shoes, I definitely would use the Wild Card straight away to get some extra guaranteed cash.
So, if you knew a puzzle and didn't want to spin again, how much of an incentive would it take to use the Wild Card if you had it?

Be careful when you post events from recent shows, couponboy. Some people may not have had the opportunity to watch it yet and may be spoiled.
As for myself, it depends on the circumstances. If it's late in the game and I'm trailing by a sizable amount, then I'd probably use it on the biggest number I could get to turn it into cash before it's wasted. If I were in the lead, though, I'd try to save it for the Bonus Round unless I were to land on top dollar (maybe $900 if I had a smaller lead and there was a big multiple).

As a general rule (what I planned for before I taped), I would if I hit top dollar and I knew there were some multiples, pretty much if I could guarantee at least $10k from it. Also if it was a close game and I was on $900 and I thought it could push me over the top or at least put me in striking distance by just solving the speed up round puzzle, then I would consider it also. There's also the consideration if I was dead in last place, might as well use it on anything decent if I knew the puzzle since I probably won't use it in the bonus round anyway.

Well, there are a lot of cash values that don't exist currently. On my own, if I landed on one of the top dollar values (either $2,500, $3,500 or $5,000) I would use it immediately. If not, but I saw that I couldn't get to the BR, I probably would use it on any value over $700.

Just to be clear, the non-top dollar amounts over $1,000 factor in the possibility of multiple letters when you land on a three figure space.

In that case, $2,500 would be the minimum for me, unless I was in the situation that I have explained before.

If I were to be a contestant and get the wild card, I would save it for the BR should I get there. After all, one more consonant could help a contestant (like me) get the help needed to solve and win the BR prize.

^ It's so rare though that 4th consonant makes or breaks it

Recently, I'd say the Wild Card is worth a bankrupt or two.

^ It's so rare though that 4th consonant makes or breaks it While it is rare, it did help out big time in Autumn Erhard's case.
