We're lucky to have anything from 1975 at all.

I think the weirdest thing about this episode is the Speed-Up round being "our final 60-second round" with no vowels allowed. Aside from that, I think the most notable thing is that Buy A Vowel's still present...and still completely redundant. While it sucks that the visuals have most likely been lost to time, all things considered it's pretty likely this is the only way this episode's survived for the past 40 years. I'm pretty sure this is the first time it's been heard by the public since its original broadcast, too.

It's clear that Rounds 2 and 3 use the same layout, which brings me to ask you guys something that I could not stop asking myself for the past few months.
Was $750 really the top dollar value (TPV) for Round 2 back when the show premiered on January 6, 1975? To be honest with you, I have some doubt that $750 even existed back then let alone was the TPV for Round 2. Based on what I've seen on some other game shows at the time (and I mean some), where the stakes aren't raised until the final round, I can't help but think that Rounds 1 and 2 shared the same layout and TPV of $500.
Now I know about audience testimony, but I want to double check. Did various live audience members and home viewers say that $750 was the TPV for Round 2 when the show premiered?
I just want to put any doubts to rest. That's all I want here.

If anything, the best evidence in support of $750 being TDV for Round 2 originally would be the structure of the Byrnes pilots ($350/$500/$750/$1,000)

You guys reminded me of something Don Del Grande said on ATGS back in 2001: Now granted, some of this is wrong (the clips of the premiere prove the $250/$500/$750 and $250/$500/$1000 ones never happened), but he does say "there was definitely" $500/$750/$1000 and $500/$1000/$1000 at one point, and this episode seems to support the latter. Was $750 really the top dollar value (TPV) for Round 2 back when the show premiered on January 6, 1975? To be honest with you, I have some doubt that $750 even existed back then let alone was the TPV for Round 2. [...] Now I know about audience testimony, but I want to double check. Did various live audience members and home viewers say that $750 was the TPV for Round 2 when the show premiered? I just want to put any doubts to rest. That's all I want here. Unfortunately, without a full copy of the 1975 premiere I don't think this can definitively be answered. The recollections I have listed here are ones I've discovered over time and date back to 1994. I'm not aware of any audience or contestant testimonies from the 1970s-80s. That's part of the reason why things like this Wheel episode (and, as another example, the 6/27/77 Second Chance show) are so great, aside from the coolness and rarity factors: they can help support or disprove said recollections.
