Palm Springs Wheelmobile event: February 26th, 2017 2nd Round Audition: March 30th, 2017 Letter: April 14th, 2017 Standby tape date: August 24th, 2017 (Halloween week) Tape date: September 26th, 2017 (Great Outdoors week) Air Date: December 1st, 2017! So I gotta know... how did it feel to be a "Standby"? Was the "Itch" to get up there and spin and be part of the actual show/taping unbearable??? I was planning on having to go through it myself but luckily someone cancelled at the last minute on Veterans Week so I was an On-Air Contestant right away and got to bypass the Standby. I think if I would have been a Standby it would have been excruciating because it was kind of a like a "Tease" before the main event. And I would have no idea at the time when the Main Event would even happen LOL

I got to participate in the rehearsal wheel-spinning, observe the rehearsal, and watch 5 shows. By the time my actual tape day rolled around, I was not nervous at all. They did great to get be back on the show relatively soon after my standby taping (roughly a month).

I was only nervous until I solved the 2nd Toss up puzzle, you can briefly see this grin on my face as I'm looking down. That's my "It's On" Face, and from that point on, I was good to go And I'm really glad that they were able to get you back in so fast!! Cannot wait to see how well you did!! (Hopefully you didn't get snagged on the BR like I did lol)

If not, how was it decided that you would be filling in? Were you priority over the other one or something? I believe the same situation happened at my taping. We only had one alternate standing by for the entire taping named Jamie and it was immediately announced that a guy named Aaron, who was intended to be a standby as well, would be playing in place of a no-show. Whenever a standby needs to be chosen in the middle of the taping, the two draw balls to see who gets to play and all three players have to re-draw to determine positions.

Whenever a standby needs to be chosen in the middle of the taping, the two draw balls to see who gets to play and all three players have to re-draw to determine positions. Basically what happened to me was I was driving home on a Friday from work (stuck in LOVELY LA traffic LOL) and I noticed a call from Sony.... thought it was curious.. so I picked it up and it was Jackie. She asked how my day was, and then said she thought she could make it better. She said they had a person who had to cancel and wanted to see if I could come in that next Wednesday to take part in the Veterans Week tapings. She said I would be an ACTUAL contestant, not a standby, and I immediately jumped on the opportunity. Not sure how I was able to get in over the two standbys that they had already selected, but I'm VERY Glad that I did get picked From what I could tell at the initial audition, they were wanting me on the show. Was picked to stay after, and then I was actually the last "potential contestant" to leave after the morning audition session. She asked me a couple of questions regarding my application to make sure that everything was correct and accurate. She also mentioned that I did exceptionally well on the quiz (I was confident I got them all right but she wouldn't confirm it LOL). So I had a really good feeling I'd be getting the call at some point (just didn't expect it to literally be that same week LOL). So in a nutshell (long nutshell lol) that's what happened to me

Another tape date with no email and another person going before me. Please don't get me wrong tunaseaswimer, I am happy for you as for anybody who gets a tape date but I've been in the pool for over 2 years and it's becoming very disheartening.

Have you contacted one of the contestant coordinators to verify you're still in their database? Approaching two years, they certainly won't mind hearing from you to double-check.

And they're EXCEPTIONALLY helpful through the entire process. Definitely does not hurt to reach out to them and see if you're still in the system.

I called about 3 months ago and they confirmed I'm on the list. He also mentioned it can be up to two years so I'm waiting (not so) patiently and continuing to hone my puzzle solving skills.
