Just got back to the hotel after an amazing day. For those of you that didn't already know, I won a trip to WOF from the local Philly affiliate to see Philly Week film. This morning we got a tour of Sony Studios and then attended the tapings for two episodes of Philly Week. I sadly didn't get to see Melanie's episode but I did get to meet her in the audience between filmings. So while I'm still waiting for my filming date, I did get to spin the wheel and get a cool picture of it to add to an amazing trip. I think it also helped prepare me because now I have already seen the stage and felt the wheel. |

Question for the experts: How does WOF decide who will do a contestant blog? I don't remember hearing anything about this in the process. I'm not entirely sure, but I can speak for my week: Trent, who played on the Wednesday show, expressed interest in doing the blog while at the taping and it appears they let him--so it could just be as simple as "ask them and they'll probably let you." We used to get clues as to how someone did because the contestant blogger was usually the big winner of the week, but this no longer appears to be the case. |

Melanie , It used to be a pretty big winner for the week but now it seems that they choose someone with an apparently positive and energetic ("I'm just so happy/lucky to be here") attitude. That is the only reason I can justify being chosen because... I came in 3rd haha. Many other contestants that I've talked to said they had a feeling they knew who would be selected. Wouldn't hurt to just ask them if you are interested though!

Oh, I forgot to mention that the Contestant Coordinators mentioned to my group that there was this "new Wheel of Fortune message board thing out there.." and asked if any of us were on it. I'm sure they were referring to BAV. By that point, Dfarino and I had realized we 'knew' each other from here. So we disclosed that we did. It was during the part of our orientation where they talk about what constitutes cheating, etc. and Shannon asked if we had made any plans to cheat (tongue in cheek). They didn't seem too concerned, but I thought it was interesting that they mentioned the boards. |

I'd hardly call a forum created in 2009 and majorly overhauled in 2012 "new".  A bit concerning that they tied it into "plans to cheat", but understandable for legal reasons, of course. |

I've never understood how people could try and cheat at WOF. Either you're a good puzzle solver or you're not. Unless they're talking about cheating with spinning the wheel...which would still be almost difficult to do. |

^^ The lawyer that talked to us about this said it's more possible/a concern in Jeopardy! (which she also works on), but I suppose you could do so in Wheel also. As in, agree to throw the game and split winnings after. And yeah, MarioGS, I bet the problem is that it's been a "problem" so much this season hahaha. You running this site probably drew a bit more attention to it  |

^ Yes, that's right. I remember her saying the same thing about arranging to split winnings and such and how it actually was a problem on another game show she worked on. And yes, I was definitely a trigger, hence them thinking it's "new". It's not, ladies at Wheel, but indeed is just beginning. |

I mean sure, people can exchange personal information and communicate off site but I'm sure people can find either other like that on Facebook, Twitter, etc... Well, I was just thinking of the rule that you can't play with people you know/have been talking to. (For instance, levesp08 and dannyangel could not be on the same episode back in September and I could not be on the same episode with ryanlinus27 or @jake). Honestly, I made fast friends with as many future contestants as I could from here because I didn't want to play with someone that has all the resources of BAV. Maybe I should have tried my luck playing against Jake though. (Just kidding Jake!!) In reality, it didn't matter much for me because "Wheel" usually always puts one man with 2 women. But yes, you're right this is just one way future contestants can connect. And it won't ACTUALLY happen that everyone that's going to tape talks to everyone here. |

Paul/Cowheelfan mentioned that we were "friends" on this forum, and I chimed in I had posted with Eugene as well, who also taped taped 3/17. They left the greenroom for a minute and shortly after we found out we wouldn't be on the same game. I was grateful Paul brought it up. I wasn't sure if I should or not! :huh:
