Hi there! Here's what I remember.
1. I wear glasses and I was able to see the ULB just fine. It's very clear, and it's just to the left of the Puzzle Board. You'll be able to see it just fine. It's about 60-70 feet away on a big screen, suspended high above the floor.
2. For women, the dress code does emphasize a LOT of things. Dark, solid colors work best. Avoid white and cream, or anything with a fine pattern (like pinstripes or polka dots). Two-piece outfits are best (you DEFINITELY want to wear something with a back pocket, so the microphone can easily be placed). Take off ALL jewelry, except a watch, to avoid problems when spinning. No silk, satin, or linen. Bring a dark blazer or sweater. Wear a smooth, supportive bra to make sure "everything" stays in place. You'll come to the studio already dressed in show clothes. Wear the hairstyle you plan to wear for the show, as they don't do hair. Wear a foundation of your own makeup, but be ready to have them do extensive work on you.
3. No one receives an actual ticket. When you are called, you will have one week to determine who your audience supporters will be. You can have no more than FOUR. Each guest must be at least 8 years old. A week out from your taping, a contestant coordinator will call you back. At that time, please provide the names of the guests. My assumption is that these will be on a guest list for that taping day. Your guests will come to the studio separate from you. They'll sit in a special waiting area and present their name to a Sony security guard, who will then escort the guests to their seats.
4. The hotel they recommend is the Doubletree L.A. West in Culver City, located on Centinela Road, just off Sepulveda Boulevard (be careful...there is another Doubletree pretty close by in El Segundo...not the one you want). If you can't get there, there is a Four Points by Sheraton across Sepulveda Boulevard. If you stay there, you'll have to walk or take a cab over to the Doubletree, as the shuttle to the studio ONLY goes from there. For both hotels, they offer the "Sony rate," but you have to call the hotels directly and ask for their respective Directors of Sales. Mention the Sony rate and they'll know what you're talking about. The rate is EXTREMELY reasonable for the chain and the location.
If there's anything else you need, give me a shout. Good luck to you!
