^Yeah, it's not really a big deal but you'd think a show about spelling would know the proper place to put an apostrophe.

Wow, what a great way to start the season. It's cool that the opening and the new wipes look great on TV and we had a very good game to match. Really enjoyed seeing someone take advantage of the $3500 and the Express wedge today. All around there was good gameplay, even if Ashley couldn't quite capitalize on it as much as her competitors did. It seemed rather odd that we start the season with a not-so-easy puzzle, but Alicia picked the right letter(s) and that M was key to her getting it, even if she wasn't so sure she had gotten it. (I had RECIPE before her letters and got it with her picks.) Less nice to see would be the continued use of so many themed puzzles. Seriously, only R3, R4 and the BR weren't themed, less than half the puzzles, and I wish they would theme the puzzles less. Also, I see the Wild Card hasn't changed its ways. And while $33,000 is nice, I hope we do get some more variety in the BR, though I doubt that will happen. As for the featured prize reveal, I do like it and feel like it is a nice throwback to 90s Wheel, but I'm interested to see they will deal with this new reveal. From the two taping sets I went to, the first one (Weekend Getaways) had the "old" prize reveal on Monday and then the new "reveal" (no they don't reveal the trip if it isn't won) for the rest of the week (I honestly thought that Pat had made a mistake on the Tuesday episode) . For the second set (Sears Secret Santa Week 2), they revealed the prize everyday after the tossups. So I'm curious if this is a new season thing, something that only lasted the first 2 taping sessions, how consistent will this be? But this was a great show to start the season off and I hope we can have a great season. (Though I can't help but feel a little sad knowing the 1/2 Car is truly out of Round 1 and that this Wheel isn't going to be around for much longer.)

I had RECIPE w/ RSTLNE, but I doubt I would have gotten "YUMMY" without Alicia's picks, so good on her! Though, I would never pick CMDA in the bonus round. Making me rethink my whole letter-picking strategy for the BR if I'm lucky enough to get there. Good kick off to the season! While this is a big positive, the contestants potentially not knowing the ARP of the wedge is a bit of a disadvantage when making decisions in some very specific situations (admittedly, no one on stage is savvy enough to factor such data, but I feel like my point still stands). I don't remember who, but in someone's spinning story, I remember them writing that they were told what the featured prize would be on their show before taping. They could have also been told the ARP as well. And what specific situations do you speak of? I'm assuming it has to do with scoring? I'm wondering if you pick up a trip (or gift tag) if it's listed on your score monitor in the studio (or if the value is). Can any former contestants that picked up cardboard speak to this? The BR win, successful trip on the Express, and a $20k 2nd place made for a great season premiere! In response to above: In Season 32, the contestants were informed of the featured prizes and their ARP before the shows. I picked up a gift card and although "GIFT CARD" was displayed on the score monitor during that round, I honestly can't remember whether the score displayed reflected the amount before winning the round. Too many other things going through my head that day to remember

That was a long first toss-up puzzle.
Any clue what the longest toss-up has been? Has one ever exceeded two rows?
On the opposite side: what's the shortest toss-up puzzle ever used? I seem to recall HAWAII being used before but I'm not sure if that's the shortest.

Great season premiere! I lost the previous season's one and I didn't want to lose it I've liked almost all the changes: not reading the copy will save some seconds of time if the prize is not won. However, probably it will give me some problems when making my stats The new Toss-Up bumper is more beautiful than the old purple-pink and it looked outdated compared to the other elements changed (the Final Spin and the Prize Puzzle shot). I've also noticed that they have changed the font of the category when the puzzle is in play: when they put it, it's still on the previous font. However, in the BR the font was the same as always. (And finally CBS 21 airs WoF on panoramic! It definitively looksmuch better!). About the gameplay, it was quite good. Great R1 and R3 for Alicia, and a perfect R2 for Chris (a pity she had lost the Wild Card in R1, she could have made more money in $3.500). We have got an Express in the first day, something that didn't happen in S32 until four or five weeks. And a good way to start a season is with a BR win... even if it has been for $33K.

Good show to begin the season. However, when Pat threw right to the Round 1 puzzle following the second toss up, I originally thought that they had done away with the prize on the wheel entirely. I was glad to see that this was not the case.

I seem to recall HAWAII being used before but I'm not sure if that's the shortest. Pretty sure this is the record for longest Toss-Up puzzle. The longest one I can recall is THE ILIAD AND THE ODYSSEY (also from a Teacher's Week). HAWAII and GAL PAL seem to be the shortest Toss-Ups. I hate when they use themed phrases like that. Why not just "THE HONOR ROLL", "MAKING THE HONOR ROLL", or even "I MADE THE HONOR ROLL"?

I like the minor changes with not announcing the prize on the wheel unless it's won---hopefully this will save time for more game play. While this is a big positive, the contestants potentially not knowing the ARP of the wedge is a bit of a disadvantage when making decisions in some very specific situations (admittedly, no one on stage is savvy enough to factor such data, but I feel like my point still stands). I also fail to see how Walmart, Sears, Disney, etc would be OK with no copy most of the time. I can state that, before tapings, contestants are told what their prizes are (other than the PP, of course) and how much they are worth. There is also a white board near the score monitors that displays what the prize is and how much it is worth, mainly as a reminder to Pat, but also as a reminder to the contestants. In short, the contestants DO know the ARP of all prizes, except the Prize Puzzle.

A) Don't rethink it. Season premiere, the puzzle will be easy. This is a rare exception to the usual rules - in fact, M has been by far the most overcalled letter in the BR. B) Yeah, depending on the trip amount you may want to stop and solve or go depending on if you can take the lead or not. But again, it's not too important. There is the opportunity to take advantage since they are told the ARP, I guess, it's just viewers who are potentially missing out (but certainly not on sponsored weeks, I called that one).

I've been criticized in the past for expecting too much of contestants under the lights, and have been trying to be mindful of that. You're saying the opposite is true now?

I like the minor changes with not announcing the prize on the wheel unless it's won---hopefully this will save time for more game play. The less time spent on a Wheel Prize that is not won at all, the more time for money to be won later in the game. I think that's a smart move. I also like how there's no need to describe the Prize unless it is won, which can add to the time it takes to play the game and increase the chances of everyone winning by even more, something that a couple agree with already, I notice. Why does everybody think this is going straight to game play? The only reason they got rid of the in-game commercial was to give more time to the out-of-game commercials.

^ Did you time the show? I don't think they've changed the actual time of the show (maybe they have? Or put in other in-game plugs?) Also, do we know that they wouldn't describe it if it wasn't won?

Well, tonight's episode (9/15/15) seems to be back to the old way with the prize. I'm confused.

Although that does sound like something Sony would do, wouldn't they have done it with the 1/2 Car? Or did they do it? I don't pay that much attention to length.

Or do you just not care? Just because you've been on the show (and like a thousand others) doesn't give you the right to act like you're king shit and be rude to longtime friends of this site. Wayoshi's wording may have been poor, sure, and I know he's had foot-in-mouth problems in the past, but he's gotten a LOT better over the past few years. Question his thoughts, fine, but don't sit there and rudely ask if he even cares. Do you even care about your (not-so-stellar, btw) reputation around the community? If all you're going to do is act the same way you did on Golden-Road, well, please don't.

Or do you just not care? Chad, I get what you're saying, and we make it a point to value players dealing with the show in some way (yet to tape, yet to air, aired, etc.) in very high regard. It is important that we not insult them, for the growth and future of the page, to help contestants do their best. However, after talking with Wayo, and by my own interpretation, this seems like it is describing other factors at play, though I can't really blame you for your interpretation, as it is somewhat of an ambiguous message. As I saw it: The intention was such that likely none of us, no matter how good we are, that it would be very difficult to factor the price of the trip in to the gameplay with the short buzzout limit, especially if it's a close game. Not to mention, all the other factors going on, from lights, to puzzle, audience, Pat, etc. Strategy is great, certainly, but it'd be hard to do in that instance. My phrasing is certainly different, but wouldn't you say you agree with this particular notion? I don't think anybody who has responded to this post is in the wrong here, honestly. Just a little miscommunication is all, and that happens in the best of times, among the best of friends.

Anyway....so....um...erm...I'm actually going to talk about the episode now, is that fine? Ok, thanks.
Fun premiere. I didn't know it was going to be teacher's week already. Do a lot of seasons tend to start with generic theme weeks instead of just a big premiere event like some of the past Vegas shows? I'm not keen enough on my history to know this. Got in a lot of stuff, some good solves, an express, a nice $3500 hit, and a $20k+ loser for one of the first times in awhile. I don't always talk about Wheel episodes as they happen, but this one was pretty enjoyable.
Didn't RSTLNE the bonus puzzle, but Ms gave it to me.
