That was a long first toss-up puzzle. Any clue what the longest toss-up has been? Has one ever exceeded two rows? On the opposite side: what's the shortest toss-up puzzle ever used? I seem to recall HAWAII being used before but I'm not sure if that's the shortest. Pretty sure this is the record for longest Toss-Up puzzle. The longest one I can recall is THE ILIAD AND THE ODYSSEY (also from a Teacher's Week). HAWAII and GAL PAL seem to be the shortest Toss-Ups. I hate when they use themed phrases like that. Why not just "THE HONOR ROLL", "MAKING THE HONOR ROLL", or even "I MADE THE HONOR ROLL"? As for tlc38tlc38's other question, THE DELAWARE BAY is the only more-than-two-row Toss-Up I've seen, in their first season of use. I have no idea why they put it on the board that way.

I didn't know it was going to be teacher's week already. Do a lot of seasons tend to start with generic theme weeks instead of just a big premiere event like some of the past Vegas shows? I'm not keen enough on my history to know this. Didn't RSTLNE the bonus puzzle, but Ms gave it to me. Looking back at the recap directory, we can take a quick survey of the premiere weeks back to 2008: S26: Endless Summer (generic) S27: Premiere Week (Vegas) S28: Venetian Week (Vegas) S29: Home Sweet Home (generic) S30: Spa Getaway (generic) S31: Season Premiere Week (Vegas) S32: Teacher's Week S33: Teacher's Week So over the last eight seasons, it's been pretty evenly split. We've had three in Vegas, three generic, and now two Teacher's Weeks which are mostly generic but feature special contestants. Also, I don't recall if I RSTLNE'd the bonus puzzle or not, but WKYI does just about as well as CDMA (because what other five-letter word both starts and end with Y?).

(because what other five-letter word both starts and end with Y?). I can think of one, which would be the exact opposite of this.

This is true, but YUCKY RECIPE is probably only good for a viral moment, not $33,000.

I think that the surprise aspect of the featured prize is great and certainly adds to the drama. They've also been really cool trips so far too, and who knows... maybe they'll throw some cars in there eventually too? (Dare to dream!) To me, not knowing what the prize actually is until it's revealed makes it just a little more fun. Although they could also do an April Fools Day joke with one of the old school ceramic Dalmatians as their featured prize that day just for laughs.

R1: I like the first time the “America’s Game” bug appeared on the category strip. I also like how it ripples when maingame puzzles are solved. R2: I like how Chris did this round and bought all the vowels. R3: I like Alicia’s successful Express run. R4: Perfect Speed-Up! I like how only two letters are called. Episode Rating: 10/10
