This was a fun episode. A tight competition between the two ladies made for good gameplay.
I had the bonus puzzle with just RSTLNE.

Another Kerry Washington puzzle and I still have no clue who she is even after looking up her biography on Wikipedia.
Also, I was a huge crayon nut as a child. How'd I miss TU2?
BR was a squeaker, but I'm glad she won it.

I really enjoyed tonight's episode. I thought all 3 contestants were well-matched, and it was exciting to see the battle between the 2 ladies towards the end there. The bonus round certainly became a bit of a nail biter, but it was great to see a last second solve!

Solid show throughout today. A lot of multiples lead to a fairly high maingame despite only one big money hit (albeit, that hit was $5000).
I understand how that BR was almost lost - arbitrary color and all that. It was a second away.

These ladies were tough for tonight's game, although Amanda could have called the S for $15,000 worth. My mouth dropped to the floor in the bonus round. I thought she was beaten by the buzzer, but she won regardless, so congratulations to her!

All I can say is: What. A. Night. OK, I've got a lot more to divulge. I don't think I've ever seen a contestant like Amanda. She was just...wow! Torie and Johnathan also did well for themselves; while the former ends up with a great second-place total, it's nice to see our first aired Toss-Up sweep of the season from the latter! I just wish Amanda said the S's in Round 4 (especially on top dollar), and I'm surprised she didn't get the Round 5 puzzle with the B's. That Bonus Round puzzle was a cinch for me with Amanda's picks. I thought she'd get it right away, but boy, that was a close call for her! A shame she only won $33,000 for that. Speaking of the Bonus Round, great to see LIVING THING(S) as the category for two Mondays in a row. Great variety! Also, I got the Round 2 puzzle with just the H's. They used KERRY WASHINGTON on last season's edition of this theme. What's going on? Wow, a trip to San Francisco as a weekend getaway and a new wedge for it? Awesome! My rating: 8 (too darn good of an episode)

Sorry not to see the MDW go to the Bonus Round, but I'm glad Amanda shouted out the answer in the final second, especially after I had been shouting it at the TV for 5 or so seconds before that! I, too, thought Amanda would call S in Round 4 on the $5,000 space, but I guess she decided ahead of time not to heed the NEVER portion of the answer and just SETTLE FOR LESS anyway . Nonetheless, that was a great game...glad to see so many fellow Illinoisans this early in the season.

Nice to have the older wedges back, even if it's just for this week. That was quite a Bonus Round. It seemed like all hope was lost and then she blurts it out at the last second. Good audience to start the session, too. I always love when people win five digits on a pretty big puzzle without bonuses or top dollar. OMG at Pat's closing comment.

(Sorry if this is a little longwinded, I wanted to make sure I got everything I wanted to say out of the way and it was taking longer than expected) Tris' Taping Report Part 1 of 5 (or 6): So, I was at this week's tapings and all week I'll talk about what happens as an audience member and my experiences with this week shows. Before the tapings begin, we usually hear the spiel about what you can't bring into the studio, and apparently there was a problem the day before (1st day of tapings) where someone had brought weapons onto the set, it didn't seem like anything major happened, but it was still interesting to hear that something had happened the day before. We go to the studio and into the stage and they have some information on the show, there's a lot but something I hadn't seen before was this staff picture from 1977 from the daytime show that I thought was pretty cool, see if any of you can figure out who these people are (I can't). As we were walking into the seating area, they were practicing a Bonus Round win reveal, and Jim was describing the Volkswagen. I was a little surprised to find out how much it cost, but I won't reveal that yet, in case we do hit it this week. When Jim comes out of his booth to talk to us about the show and what's going on, he's wearing this light up tie (he always wears a tie to match the theme of the week, he says it's the least he can do). This tie is voice activated and he uses it to see we're doing the Wheel of Fortune chant loud enough, it did light up. He even mentioned that it was a gift from Bob Ennis, who had just been promoted from Technical Director to Director recently. Not knowing what the new season was going to look like at the time, and never having seen the first taping of the day, I got really got excited when I saw the Express wedge appear in the R1 wheel, of course now I know that's the rehearsal week, but back then I just thought it was this huge change that I really wanted to happen. Still it was nice knowing that the 1/2 Car tags were just out of Round 1 and not retired (I didn't think there'd be another change to the wheel). I guess the most exciting thing about the tapings before they even started was the fact that I was in the presence of a legend. Randy West, who was an announcer for Supermarket Sweep, did some Price is Right, was a contestant on a couple of shows, was in the audience for the first three tapings. It was so cool knowing that someone who's big in game shows was at this taping (and no I didn't get to talk to him). That also might explain why the audience sounds better for at least the first 3 episodes this week. This was a great show to start off with. It's always great to have no null cycles and everyone played well. It was also nice to see everyone earn a decent sum and two of our three players earning over $15,000. Of course, a buzzer beating Bonus Round solve and a $5000 hit helped make this show that much more exciting. Curious to see if Amanda has had her baby yet; but at least she can say she made her baby proud. I seriously thought she wasn't going to get the puzzle considering how much she was struggling to get pink, but the place was electric when she solved it. Maybe she should've gotten more than $33,000, but hey at least she gets that. We may have started the week off with a bang, but it certainly won't be the last time things will be exciting this week. Stay Tuned!
