So yeah, first 3-5 minutes are on Price's Halloween special where everyone is Drew Carey. As for the meat of it, and of particular interest to this board, they did a discussion on all things modern Wheel. A few good, a few about what could be done, but a fair share on what they perceive to be stale. Features esteemed member jjman920 as a guest panelist. What do you think of their opinions? What could be added, both to the podcast, and the show itself? Curious to see what you all think. Happy listening!

Some good points all around. I especially liked their comparisons to Jeopardy! in terms of excitement factor, contestant interaction, and "the little moments".

A lot of sad-but-true points, mostly from JJ. There was a lot of stuff they should have but didn't mention, though, mainly the Prize Puzzle.

Get rid of that "Jordan" fellow from the podcast. He's a socially awkward nerd who adds no content to the show.
...oh wait.

This was an interesting listen! Thanks for sharing! I guess for me, I've always liked tuning in to Wheel because I know what to expect. I definitely recognize that some people would like to see some format changes, but I really like the concept. Spin a wheel, solve some word problems: simple and to the point! I thought the comparisons to Jeopardy were interesting; I think it's very true that Wheel is more up to chance because of the title character itself, versus Jeopardy is more on the contestants, but I've always enjoyed both for those reasons. Wheel is the same game I've been watching since I was a kid, except there have been a few twists along the way. WHEEL envelopes being replaced by the Bonus Wheel. Contestants no longer repeating episodes. Introduction of the Mystery Wedges. The retirement of the Jackpot. Introduction of the Express. 22 years later and I'm still tuning in I thought it was a good point that TPIR may come across fresher because they have rotating games on the show, but I've always enjoyed the format Wheel is. The topic that interested me the most in this conversation was the traveling of the show. I guess I'm no history buff when it comes to the show, but from what I recall, I feel like they used to travel more. And it was effective in drumming up great interest for the show. I can remember being in 3rd grade, and they were promoting the fact that they were going to come to Denver at some point around the winter of 1996/1997... I can still vaguely recall the commercials of Vanna standing next to the bags of letters from all of the people in Denver wanting to be on the show. I was so excited that they were coming, and I remember my parents saying that they'd take me... But then we had a snowstorm. We had the ABC Denver newscast on and I remember them saying that Vanna was in the lobby of the theatre saying hello to everyone that had come out and I was telling my parents, "WE HAVE TO GO!" ... In retrospect, perhaps not venturing out into the blizzard was a good choice on their part. At any rate, while I think it's true that the show is no different on the road than in studio (just different sets with bigger audiences), I think that it added a lot of excitement for the towns that they visited. That's the one thing I wish they'd bring back sometime soon
