It's been over 18 months since his appearance on Wheel first aired. However, he still has people on campus sneaking pictures of him and asking him questions about his Achilles Heel (pun intended) on the show. This article was posted today following up with him: www.idsnews.com/article/2015/11/wheel-of-fortuneI will say, if Wheel ever did decide to do what Millionaire did this season and have a "second chance week", he should be one of the first ones called.

As an IU alum myself, I have to admit I was saddened by how IU was ridiculed as an institution of higher learning just as much as Julian was as a contestant. Still am sometimes as social media friends continue to post about it as they happened to miss it when it first went viral. Thanks for posting the article as it shows Julian's maturity in dealing with all the embarrassment. As for inviting him back for a "second chance" week, I'm all for it, just as long as I'm invited back too given that Pat wished they could bring me back for "entertainment value" at the end of my show.

If Wheel ever did decide to do a "second chance week", they would probably just treat it as a "$0 winners" week inviting those who were stuck with parting gifts or pity cash. If you finished with a total higher than $0, you'd be out.
One contestant who comes to mind is the contestant who mispronounced the first word in the Prize Puzzle PICTURESQUE PINEAPPLE PLANTATIONS, and another is the EXCLUSIVE NIGHTCLUB college student (at the time, as it was 9 years ago). Both had embarrassing moments, and both goose-egged. If I were them, I'd also pick the contestant who forgot the S at the end of the Same Name puzzle SAN DIEGO & CELL PHONE CHARGERS, another goose-egg.

^ Woo hoo, I qualify under your criteria! Sadly I never ended up making a solve attempt so I'm not in the same camp as the contestants you've suggested. But I'd love the chance to play against them!

Let's not forget, this guy still won the game despite all the mistakes he made. So I don't quite get all the calls for him to get a second chance at the game when his maingame total was somehow higher than mine.

You know, I think you would actually have a good shot at it. I know all my examples were related to the puzzle itself, but that's not all that would qualify someone for a return. Actually, the EXCLUSIVE NIGHTCLUB moment wasn't a solve attempt. It was a bad letter call, but most of the puzzle was revealed. Everyone on YouTube keeps making jokes about the K call

Here's a question for everyone. If you had to choose between having a "second chance" week or a "some of the greats" / ToC week during S34, which would you choose?

Defintely Some of the Greats, but both are sorely needed. They should have a week or at least one episode of people who went viral for misplays. Ellen actually sort of did this on her own show for a special edition of her "Know or Go" game.

^ I concur for the most part. But regarding those that went viral, didn't some of them end up getting interviewed on the national news or talk shows, some even collecting appearance fees or prizes in the process? Isn't that enough? Would Wheel Watchers really want to see them again? I think I would, but I'm not sure about the general public. Take Julian for example. I believe he made several such appearances after his show aired and surely they weren't all for free.

I get the argument by people saying he won the game, but he isn't being remembered for the win. Millionaire's second chance week didn't all contain llamas. Although I think it would be cool to see if Mr. New Baby Buggy can pull another rabbit out of his hat if they did do a week of inviting back former players.

^ Or if Julian can pull off a NEW BABY BUGGY kind of solve himself! I see Julian more like this: "Okay, Julian, your category is Food & Drink. RSTLNE:" _ _ _ _ _ N _ T "Three more consonants and a vowel:" "D, G, H, U." "Well, I'm feeling pretty good about this. I would be really surprised if you didn't get this. Audience, no help, please, he must do it on his own." D _ U G H N U T "All right. Food & Drink. 10 seconds." "DOUG-HAUNT? DRUG-NUT? DRUG-NOOT? DOUG-NAUGHT? DIAGONAL? DOG BISCUIT?…" [buzz buzz]

This guy was in the audience for a Price episode this past May. He definitely knows how to shrug stuff off I guess... it's still just amazing though how a college student could not know the proper pronunciation to a mythological hero, one that is in a common phrase in the modern day.
If he'd never seen the word before, how'd he know he made a mistake, eh?
I guess hiring managers might like turning a negative into a positive and all that, but... goodness.
True enough, but this will remain one of the epic dumb episodes in the show's history, it's never going to fully go away.
The article also emphasizes he won the maingame with 11.7k, yadda yadda that is pretty decent... and I get it, but as I analyzed back then, he could have had like 60k if he was competent with his spin luck man.

^ I think he knew he made a mistake because the pronunciation of the word that came out of his mouth sounded to him like complete and utter nonsense—nothing he had ever heard before.

Interesting discussion on how to make Some of the Greats, ToC and Second Chance weeks work on Twitter. Anyone have anything to add?
