I know there are a lot of rules to protect against spoilers and such. I haven't posted anything on social media about getting the acceptance letter, only on this board. Which in reality, might not have been so smart either but I saw everyone else doing it.
I did tell a few people, such as my principal, when I took the day off for the audition so of course I told him when I got the letter. He wants to post it on the school's Twitter account that one of his teachers (with my picture) will be on Wheel of Fortune. Is it allowed? I already sent him the link to my audition video on YouTube but I didn't pose with the acceptance letter like he wants yet.
Can you post something like "I'm going to be on Wheel of Fortune" to social media?
Thanks everyone!

The only things you can't post are things relating to how you did on your episode once taped, such as whether you won, how much you won, how many puzzles you solved, etc.
Things that are okay to post: "I'm going to be on Wheel of Fortune!" "I'm taping for Wheel of Fortune next month!" "My week on Wheel of Fortune is going to be Philadelphia Week." "My Wheel of Fortune episode airs March 31st!"
Things that are NOT okay to post until after the episode airs: "I just finished taping my episode and I WON!" "My episode airs in May and I win over $20,000!" "I solved three puzzles!" "One puzzle I solve on my episode is ________" "I made it to the Bonus Round on my show!" "I only won the pity thousand. Watch me anyway on April 10th." "Don't tell anybody, but I won the million dollars!"

That's what I was thinking. However, the last thing I wanted was to get booted before I even went because I wrote somewhere that I was going to be on the show.
I think right now he's more excited than I am. I'm still in a little shock personally. A good shock, but shock none the less. It's not like the odds are in your favor. It's easier to get into Harvard (which I could never do).

Can you post something like "I'm going to be on Wheel of Fortune" to social media? If you couldn't, a lot of us would be really screwed.

I think a lot of that has to do with superstition (If I say I got the letter, something bad will happen where I never get called); plus the fact once you tell the world, everyone will be asking when you're taping. I'm sure some do not want to have to deal with that and would rather say once they get the call.

^^ Good point. I was so hyped up on adrenaline I called virtually every family/friend and then posted here and on facebook several hours later when my heart rate returned to normal. In hindsight, I should have just waited until I got the call to tell everyone.

I haven't posted anything on social media. I posted here and I personally told people. My audition video was originally set to unlisted on YouTube as well. However, ever my principal asked, I made it public. Figured it must of been okay if it got me invited to the final audition in the first place.

"Don't tell anybody, but I won the million dollars!" Not like it matters whether or not a contestant posts it, the show will do a good enough job telling the world beforehand anyways.

I am a newbie as well. But I suggest you keep your episode secret on social media. Please wait until you get the airdate of your episode revealed. Then you can post it on social media.

Speaking from experience here...
I pretty much posted "OMG I'M GONNA BE ON WHEEL" practically the day I got the letter. And the day I taped, and the day I aired...without spoiling any results of the show.
tl;dr You're fine as long as you don't spoil.

Based on precedent, lemme see what I can add... Things that are okay to post: "I'm going to be on Wheel of Fortune!" "I'm taping for Wheel of Fortune next month!" "My week on Wheel of Fortune is going to be Philadelphia Week." "My Wheel of Fortune episode airs March 31st!" I think it's also safe to say what position (red, yellow, or blue) you'll be in. Posting a photo of you at the Wheel (whether in a post, as your avatar, or on social media) is fine, I think, so long as it doesn't show the score display. Not sure whether you can name who your opponents will be, though. I'm pretty sure it's okay (if your episode has already taped) to note things like "A stopdown happened because [non-spoilery reason].", for example "one of the flippers broke" or "a letter was accidentally revealed" or "the screen behind the contestants flickered for a millisecond"...but not where it was in the show. The spoiler policy also applies to any other episodes you might see during your taping day.

Clearly, you're pretty new around here, edingames, but you should take note of a few things: 1. Please post in the appropriate area for your topic. Puzzleboard programs and other things are usually discussed in the art sections, not here. 2. Please limit yourself to one thread per topic. Posting the same thing in five different threads does not get you any quicker response. 3. Please try not to bump old threads that have been dead longer than a month. If somebody has a puzzleboard program that they wish to share, that's up to them, and they can private message you. However, please try not to flood us with requests on the boards.
