My apologies for (a) this being my first post in a long time and (b) posting this in the wrong channel (if indeed I'm posting this in the wrong place). With those offered, I'm pleased to tell you Greggo posted an episode of his anime-themed version of WoF earlier today. For the uninitiated, Greg "Greggo" Wicker travels to anime conventions throughout the U.S., as well as Canada and France in recent years, hosting anime-themed versions of J!, PYL, Bullseye (the Barry and Enright project hosted by Jim Lange) and $otC as well as original games such as Faceoff, Strikeout and Farkle (last one being my personal favorite). For this episode... www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJ42TRIlywo...you'll see he used two screens -- one for the puzzle board and the other for the computerized wheel (if you've seen his Anime Price is Right, the SCSD wheel concept is basically the same as the one used here). Hope you enjoy it. I did.

I want to say this belongs in the Video Vault, Doug, but given it's not actually from the show proper I'm not 100% sure. As for the show itself, the Wheel layout looks a bit odd to me -- Free Spin token in R1, sub-500 amounts (good to see they got work after getting kicked off the TV show last year, though), the Wheel Prize getting added in R2, the Mystery Wedges present in R3, most of the TV show's addons missing, etc. Still, it looks great and spun smoothly, even if the "Wheel spinning" sound tended to end before the spins did. That's a minor complaint, though.) The Toss-Up letters pop in a bit too quickly, which I think might have thrown the players off a bit. I've said several times in the recaps that I can't stand the "modern" Before & After. That...doesn't apply here. (I was surprised, too!) This might sound weird, but I loved that the puzzle board was a bit glitchy when lighting up letters. Reminded me of the pre-'97 boards when some of the trilons just wouldn't turn on. Overall, some jitters (I think Greggo says near the beginning that this is the 3rd episode), and the hostess seemed to be a bit nervous, but for the most part everything was pretty good. I enjoyed playing along with this Wheel, which is something I haven't really been able to say about the more recent years of the TV show, so kudos for that. And since I'm in a bit of a silly mood today... Your optimal Bonus Round picks for Tsubasacon 2015:* Since there's no Wild Card here, I'll go with GDWA, since I think GUNDAM might be a bit harder to get than WING and with the A revealed you neatly avoid somebody giving a Rule 34-flavored guess. as well as original games such as Faceoff, Strikeout and Farkle (last one being my personal favorite). Oh, definitely. Personally, I don't think it would've felt out-of-place on TV back in the mid-1980s or so: set it up at Television City, have Let 'Em Roll (from Price)-size dice and buckets, maybe allow for straddling, and you've got a fun little half-hour. ...Granted, whether it would've run very long (or even get to series) back then is another story, since the genre was kinda starting to fall out of favor with the networks by the end of the decade...

I should also note, I designed bonus envelopes for Greggo to use in the Bonus Round. It doesn't show up here due to relatively low prize support, but he uses the WHEEL blind draw format before the Bonus Wheel was introduced.
He also told me that, in a variant of that format at a different con, when he didn't feel comfortable bringing my envelopes out of fear they were going to get mangled, he had five tote bags on stage. The player picked one of them and would win whatever was inside.

Episode 2. Haven't watched the full thing as of this writing, but the yellow player is already a hoot.

That was fun to see. I didn't watch all of it, just the first round but I love his puzzle board program...I'm so jealous! I wish I had something like that!
