When was the last time GSN aired WOF?
Was it for the Merv Griffin tribute in 2007? I know they aired a 10-episode tribute to him then.
I wish they'd bring it back! All those classic episodes just rotting somewhere in a vault...

After the Merv Griffin tribute, they aired a single episode from early Season 14 in November 2007, then GSN brought back weekday reruns in January 2008 (running only Season 12 episodes, a first for the network) and dropped the show once again in January 2010. Wheel was last seen once more when GSN aired a six-hour marathon (12 episodes) on Black Friday 2010, which included two episodes from Season 23's Soap Stars Week and two full road show weeks from Season 24, the most recent episodes to rerun on GSN to date. It is believed by some that this marathon was a tribute to Charlie O'Donnell's passing. Wheel has not been seen on GSN since then.

One thing I'm curious on, is why GSN never touched the daytime show (well, barring the three episodes they ran in 2007 after Merv passed). Yes, I know about them wiping most of the Woolery and early Sajak years, but that's no reason they couldn't have shown the later stuff (1985 or so onward). And that would've been quite a few episodes available (the 3,000th daytime show was in October 1986, there were a total of 4,215 daytime shows, so there's at least 1,200+ in the vault by that estimate). Heck, even restricting it to the Sajak daytime shows would still eave a sizable amount (Pat's last show was #3,564, so there's likely at least 600+ airable, if not many more).

^It just amazes me that GSN hasn't tried to get the rights to air ANY episodes recently. I'm sure ratings would be good considering it's still America's #1 syndicated show.

GSN doesn't need to worry about ratings since it has countless reruns of Family Feud with Steve Harvey.

^I know Harvey has many fans but I'm not one of them.
Give me Richard Dawson or Ray Combs (Combs is my favorite FF host) any day over Harvey. I refuse to watch current episodes.

I was lucky enough to have recorded the 2007 10-episode Merv Griffin tribute marathon.
I also recorded one week from season 12. I think it's week 3, I'm not sure though.
Finding episodes, ANY episodes, on DVD is hard even among traders.
I'd love to have a nice collection of episodes from the 80s-2002.

^It just amazes me that GSN hasn't tried to get the rights to air ANY episodes recently. IIRC, GSN is owned by Sony, which also owns Wheel...so I'd think they'd have the rights by default. I'm sure ratings would be good considering it's still America's #1 syndicated show. Apparently, the numbers for the Black Friday 2010 marathon were good, so definitely. A while back, Casey Abell was over on Game Show Paradise saying that Wheel was Sony's "nuclear option" for GSN, to which I asked that if the show would get great ratings for GSN why aren't they airing repeats now? Personally (and this is just speculation on my part), I think it might have to do with royalties: practically everything between mid-1983 and when the current theme music debuted (I don't remember when that was right off the top of my head, sorry) would, if I'm not mistaken, require them to pay royalties to the estates of Merv and/or Steve Kaplan, two people whose music cues were edited out time and again from classic clips in the Season 30 intros (heck, even YouTube - the official upload of the STYROFOAM HAT missolve is the edited version from said season). Add to that Charlie O'Donnell and the sub-announcers from Season 28 whose name isn't Jim Thornton, and you're probably not seeing anything from before September 2011. Aside from that, airing episodes from (for example) 1992 or so would by default invite comparison to the current show, and that might be seen as a bad thing by Sony. Again, though, this is all speculation.
