I really hope that Wheel goes back to doing road shows in Season 34, because it's something I really missed this season. And Jeopardy! Did go on the road, surprisingly. Does anyone know?

Wheel will 99% likely not be going on the road for Season 34, either, as a Culver City Chicago-themed week (very likely part of a future set of "Great American Cities" weeks) was recently confirmed. We'll have to hope for a special trip for Season 35, the last season of Pat and Vanna's current contracts if they don't choose to renew them again. However, Harry Friedman apparently hopes to make Fantasy Road Shows Great American Cities a yearly tradition.
If I had known this would all be the case, I definitely would have made an effort to go to Jeopardy!'s DC road shows this year. It'll be interesting if they decide to travel again next season since Wheel very likely won't be.

I don't mind the not so much on the road trips as of late since season 25 at least the road trips haven't been all that special, on the road just looked like another regular show only sucking the fun out of them and putting more fun into the home base shows. Next I want to see road shows again in the future but saving them for "big years" like 35, 40, 45 and 50 (if the show gets that long) would be a great change and make the road trips fun again.

I don't think we'll see any changes to the show for season 34 with the exception of $34,000 being the minimum amount in the bonus round. If they do decide to change up a few amounts on the wheel, add new puzzle categories, or "go on the road", they'll save it for their landmark 35th season.

I think it's been made pretty clear over the past decade or thereabouts that one huge issue with doing road shows is the cost of moving the regular set pieces, especially the Wheel, around. And honestly, I think the best fix for that is to do something like what Wheel did back in 1988 -- construct a near-identical, but much less heavy, set specifically for road shows. The Wheel itself could be done Ed Flesh-style, consisting primarily of cardboard, paint, and light bulbs; if you want the resistance to be the same, fine, build copies of whatever's used for that, but good lord don't make the whole Wheel out of steel-and-Plexiglas. (Another reason, which admittedly didn't occur to me until now, may be that Sony doesn't want to pay to put the staff in local hotels.) I don't mind the not so much on the road trips as of late since season 25 at least the road trips haven't been all that special, on the road just looked like another regular show only sucking the fun out of them and putting more fun into the home base shows. Honestly, by all indication the "home base" shows are the more boring; at the very least, the audiences at road shows are responsive. I want to see road shows again in the future but saving them for "big years" like 35, 40, 45 and 50 (if the show gets that long) would be a great change and make the road trips fun again. Personally, I don't want four seasons of strictly Culver City shows (aka "the ones where the audience almost never cares about what's going on") if every fifth season is going to have, most likely, a single road-show trip that'll probably consist of 4-6 weeks spread throughout the season.

^I do agree that the "home" episodes do have boring audiences. When the show goes on the road, the audience is enthusiastic.

Gweagraff, Jeopardy! did go on road on the 32nd season. And if Jeopardy! did go on road, why can't Wheel go on road?

Hmmmm. Maybe Sony Pictures could only afford to send one of their shows on the road and they felt that this year it was Alex Trebek's turn. Lol.

Well, I haven't seen any new categories added this year. Though they seem to be using HEADLINE more often. Also, I haven't seen the decade categories of late so I wonder if those are still around. Of course the biggest change I'd like to see in season 34 like I stated before is to have them actually show the puzzle and not keep it hidden as the letters are revealed when someone hits a Mystery Wedge or for that matter any add-on on the wheel. Sorry to keep venting about it, but that has annoyed the heck out of me all season. So I'm hoping they'll at least make that change.

Just wanted to point out that apparently Jeopardy! is once again traveling to DC next season. Not exactly... They taped the Teen Tourney on their trip to DC in April, but these episodes will be used to kick off S33 in September.

Is DC the only remote Jeopardy does?

Besides the Watson stunt, DC is the only city J! has traveled to in recent years. It seems to me that TPTB consistently choose it because: 1) it is a major city on the other side of the country; 2) production costs are likely cheaper than in venues in other East Coast cities like NYC or Boston; 3) DMA stats show that it has better viewership in this market compared to others.

I really miss the show going on the road. That is my favorite part of the show. I always wonder why did they stop doing remotes because that has been a long-standing tradition. During Season 35 they went to Epcot in Walt Disney World and that was the first remote since Hawaii in 2014. I just hope they would go on the road again because it’s a great way to bring the excitement of the show to all of the Wheel Watchers. Whenever the show does a remote like New York City the contestants and the audiences are more exuberant.
