I attended the June 4/5 Rosemont, IL Wheelmobile event and was lucky enough to get called on stage. I'm seeing if there's anyone else on this board who was able to audition in Rosemont and is patiently (yea, not really) awaiting word on a final audition? I feel as though my audition went well, but who knows. I was hoping to touch base with someone else so if you get an email then I know it's either coming soon or my audition didn't go so well. Thanks!

Good luck to you! It was about three months after the Wheelmobile event that I attended to be notified of the Final Audition invite, not sure if they said anything like that at at Rosemont? Anyway, the biggest piece of advice I can give in the process to become a contestant on Wheel of Fortune is to just be patient!

I think they are all different. I attended my wheel mobile event on March 5/6 and got the letter on March 19 the for a final audition on March 23. So there was only 2.5 weeks from event to audition for me, but I've heard some people had longer in between. Regardless just hang tight!! Good luck:)

Thanks guys. They did say it would be within three months. I just thought it would be fun to connect with someone else at the same audition. I've attended several Wheelmobile events over the past 15-20 years. Once before I made it to the final audition so I feel I now have a good grasp of what they're looking for in a contestant. Plus, the tips on this board are invaluable! redhairedchick I saw your episode; congrats on your success!

I also attended the event in Rosemont. Interestingly enough, I only just got an email to the final audition in downtown Chicago a couple of weeks ago! I thought for sure that I had botched my opportunity when I was called on stage, since I was also given the time frame of 3 months. It just took longer for whichever reason.
mad2500, I hope that you also received notification of the final audition and that I will see you there!

Well, I wasn't even called up, but I attended the event on June 5 (I was working the day before and thus couldn't attend) and I remember just having so much fun there. In fact, if you were there that Sunday, you may have seen or heard this one guy yelling and screaming and cheering and jeering like crazy. If you did, that guy was me. That's just how much fun I had over there that day.

I was next to germanname1990 for most of the event. I did all six but didn't get called up. I thought it was a horrible venue for it. Way too big and spread out and warehouse-like. There was so much reverb that even from the front row I couldn't hear a word Marty was saying.

From what I've heard, that had to be one of the biggest Wheelmobile events ever. Chicago is one of the Top 3 markets, after all. I wonder how big the one in LA was a few years ago. Marty himself told me that they avoid anywhere near NYC because the turnout would be so huge. Now I want to see it happen just for the pandemonium.

^ I thought the one in Cleveland last month was even bigger than Rosemont was, personally. Surprising given that one had a 21+ limit.

I was just looking at the Season 34 Taping/Airing Schedule and noticed that, seemingly sometime this coming February, the theme is Great American Cities: Chicago. It would make sense to me that most of the people who are picked from the final auditions tomorrow would appear on this taping. If that is so, those people would not have a long wait!

mad2500, I hope that you also received notification of the final audition and that I will see you there! It sounds like by your post that you are going to a final audition tomorrow. Shockingly, I did get the email last week. I was surprised because I figured the Chicago auditions had come and gone until just over a month ago they sent an email looking for Chicago contestants. They held two auditions today and have two tomorrow. I was in the 930 this morning. I was going to post a separate thread talking about my experience. It was fun! I felt my energy and enthusiasm were there and I think I did okay on the test, but I do feel I made a couple mistakes that could possibly cost me my opportunity-for now anyway. Unlike the person next to me who said this was a one-time deal for him, I will keep trying. But I'm not thinking about that-I'm thinking about a very nice Christmas present!!!! Good luck at your audition!!!

Ok folks, I had my final audition this morning. Personal verdict: I think I did pretty well. I was one of the first people to arrive at the venue, which meant that I got a seat right in front of the judges' table. I am really fortunate for this, because it allowed me to be right in their line of sight the entire time. I feel that I did a good job keeping up energy and enthusiasm, and made sure to stay involved with clapping, smiling, and audible noises of assent or sympathy while other people were playing. This, I feel, was one of the most important parts of the process so I would strongly suggest that any future potential contestants try to be in the front to make the best impact possible. When it came to my turn, I made sure to follow the advice given in the boards here (thanks, all!) and spoke as loudly and clearly as I could, while being succinct. I did not use superfluous words and kept my speaking short, but smiled the entire time and appropriately expressed being bummed when I guessed an incorrect letter. The course of my turn happened near the beginning of a large puzzle and I asked for two consonants, then a vowel, then another consonant that wasn't on the board. It was quick, but I think I played well and believe I 'checked all the boxes' of expression. I was not called on after that. For the test portion, I filled out six complete puzzles, left three or four blank, and the rest were partially filled in. I didn't think it was bad and I've read people on here do similarly and make it on, so I am actually not too concerned about it. The time went by super quickly! I looked up, and there was only a minute and a half left, and that just flew by. What a whirlwind of five minutes! I was not called to stay for the second portion, and I honestly wasn't expecting to. I think I conveyed myself enough in the first part for them to get a good look at me, and I think the only thing that would have had me stay was the short amount of time I had when it was my turn. Here again, though, I think I played smart enough that they got a good look. All in all, I am cautiously optimistic! Only time will tell, and I could have read all the signals wrong, but either way I walked out feeling I did my very best. If I don't get on, that is ok. I had such a great time and it was a wonderful experience and opportunity! If I do get on, it will indeed be a very nice Christmas present Best of luck to everyone out there hoping for that coveted letter!

I wish I had checked out this board before my audition yesterday. Had never been on the boards before today, have learned quite a bit about what to potentially do better next time. I frequent the JBoard, and it's good to see recognizable usernames here too.
I went to the Sunday Wheelmobile in Rosemont back in June. My at-the-time fiancee and I planned to attend just to check out the experience, as we knew our odds were rather low. But then, for the last group of the first session, I got called up.
We had decided that if I were to go up, I'd mention how I met her and began dating her through karaoke, and we were prepared to "show off" one of our regular duets if Marty prompted me. True to my anticipation, he asked what song we like to sing and then asked me to sing a bit of "our" song (Somewhere Out There from American Tail). I did and then she started her part, but she was cut off (obviously for time, and obviously because she wasn't on stage.) I ended up solving the puzzle and even though I guessed a duplicate letter, I ended up getting the email in November to go yesterday morning to Chicago, at the same session as ajon36.
It seemed to go well; I was very loud and firm with my letter calls; I got called on in the middle of a puzzle and I guessed a consonant (I think an S?) and a vowel (I) and then solved "SEASON TICKET HOLDERS" (obviously there was more than the S and I there). In the written test I probably solved 11 or 12 and got bits and pieces of the other ones. I then was held for the second half of the audition, which now that I read around here isn't necessarily a good thing. I went up, continued to be very firm with my letter selections, and then rehashed my karaoke story (now being able to add that our reception was all karaoke), as well as her special-needs brother being all excited ever since he found out I was auditioning for what he calls "E's!".
At the end they called up six or seven people; as I was packing up my stuff I eavesdropped from the third row and it sounded like they were discussing those contestants' spouses and wanting them to fill out applications too.
It was a fun experience overall; again I just wish I had picked up more tips and pointers from this site before going!

spell4yr, that is so awesome that we were at the same audition! Where were you sitting??
I kind of wish I had stayed for the second part. I would have loved to tell them a bit more about myself. I wouldn't worry too much about being asked to stay! It's a great opportunity to leave another firm impression.
I love the karaoke story! I also think it was great that you talked about your wife's brother with special needs. I also have a brother with special needs and he too loves Wheel.
One thing for all the readers that I forgot to mention before: I have read a lot of people discussing the "two week" window of receiving the letter after final auditions, and people getting worried if it gets to day 15 and nothing has come yet. One of the ladies specifically said we would receive a letter "in two to three weeks" if we got on. They are making it a point to say that the wait period can be up to three weeks. This can be great for those of us waiting... or just more nervewracking!
spell4yr and mad2500, let's keep in touch on if we get letters or not. Wishing the best for both of you!

It was also mentioned the letters may be a little later than usual due to the holiday. Keeping in touch sounds great! We're from the same area so we should get letters around the same time; and that way nobody has to spend any longer wondering than necessary.

I was in the third row, to the right of the second of the three Matthews. All I know is it was an unforgettable experience. I had auditioned once for Jeopardy! back in 2006 for the college tournament and as fun as that was, this audition was even a lot more fun. During the second break, after the gameplay and introductions, I sort of motioned to the tech guy (sorry, terrible with names) that I should have gone up and started dancing like the one woman during the first break, and he cracked up. I'm sure I could have gotten away with it. I look forward to hearing about anyone from that audition who may get letters.

spell4yr You are correct... my husband was in the 9:30 am audition. I was pretty pissed he got picked and I didn't. I think he may have mentioned that during his interview. Anyway, he calls me around 1:15 at work and tells me they want me to come down there NOW. I was totally freaking out. I wasn't prepared. I wasn't dressed for it. I had no photo or application. Plus I was out in the burbs by O'Hare. But I wrapped up quickly at work, printed off the only decent photo I could find, drove to the blue line and hopped on the first train filling out the application on the way. The whole way I thought I would throw up. I was texting him the whole way telling him I couldn't be there by 2:30. He said they were expecting me and it was okay if I was a little late. Got there about 10 minutes late and ended up in the back row. My nerves went away. I solved a puzzle, won a shirt and made it to the final rounds. Apparently they were looking for couples with kids for an upcoming Disney themed week. Awesome! Fingers crossed and I will be checking this board like crazy for the next 2 weeks. And I heard about the dancing lady from the 9:30. My husband said that group was super jazzed. The 2:30 group was great but I think we weren't quite as crazy. I didn't really have a chance to talk to anyone since I got in late and was in the back. It was fun for sure. Fingers crossed!
