Hey folks,
As we near the end of our summer vacation, it's time for a semi-regular announcement thread. Normally these would be done coinciding with the season premiere, but as one of these announcements will explain, circumstances arose that necessitated writing this thread now.
Season 34, of course, will premiere next Monday, September 12th- check your local listings for date and time. Not much really changed with the show, prompting a relative lack of discussion around these parts, but hopefully we can get back into the swing of things. As always, we will debut a brand-new site theme to go with the new season, which we are still hard-at-work on...we hope you will like it. I am pleased to announce that the new theme is more "HD-friendly"...meaning those of us with high-res 1080p-or-greater monitors will no longer have to suffer though excessive amounts of empty space at the sides of the site.
However, we find ourselves in need of a bit of help. As many of you may already know, longtime recapper Bobby "tenpoundhammer " Peacock recently lost his father after a battle with illness, and that, coupled with a busy work schedule, caused massive delays in some recaps at the end of last season. Forum member lousan92 eventually filled in for us on a temporary basis and helped us complete these recaps, with the full intent of having Bobby back for the new Season. However, as these things tend to happen, real life is continuing to get in the way for Bobby, including a new work schedule that would impact his ability to watch the show, and as such, Bobby has elected to resign from the position of Recap Guide, effective immediately.
Having done recaps for us for the past five years, Bobby's departure is leaving a bit of a gap in the staff, especially with such short notice. That isn't going to stop us, however, and as such, we're hiring! If you are a loyal BAV Boards member with at least one year of solid posting history with us and would like to contribute more regularly to our site, and have a high attention to detail, then the position of Recap Guide may be perfect for you! Anyone interested should notify me via PM. Please note that this is a nightly commitment...as such, if you know now you may have issues getting recaps up regularly, don't waste your time. Likewise, the new recapper should be able to commit to doing at least two full seasons. You don't have to follow Bobby's exact format- you are free to experiment a bit (I wouldn't be opposed to making them more graphics-heavy!), but it should be able to be followed easily. We hope to have a new Recap Guide in place to start the new Season on Monday.
Next, some of you may have been wondering what happened to our site staple, the Daily Puzzle Game, having been pretty much quiet since the Finals ended in February. Never fear, the DPG is returning on September 19th, bigger and better than ever before! However, we remain in need of someone for the DPG staff as well. If you're a loyal member who would like to contribute more, but perhaps the position of Recap Guide isn't the right one for you, perhaps the position of DPG Statistician would be more well-suited for you. For details, check this thread.
Finally, as we continue to move forward, I continue to thank each and every one of you for making this site as awesome as it is. We had a whirlwind year last season- a boatload of you guys actually got on the show, including my fellow admin Robert "MarioGS " Santoli, and continued to make a name for the site, along with do each and every one of us proud, and I don't see that stopping anytime soon, either. We're continuing in overdrive, with no intention of stopping anytime soon. I love each and every one of you guys- and while I'm not as connected with some of you personally as I would like to be (you can thank having a full-time night job for that...the whole "connecting with people" is more Jess' thing anyways), I wouldn't trade any of this in for the world. You guys have never failed to lift me up when I've needed it, and I'm sure I speak for both Jess and Robert, along with the rest of the staff, when I say that you guys are the most awesome group of fans in the world.
(Unless, of course, the third time is the charm for Jess and she gets her letter, then I may be forced to step down for being inadequate, since they don't let dumbos like me on the show. )
