Hope someone knows this...
Is there an actual timer that let's everyone know when the final spin should occur?
If so, what is the timer set at?
Do they stop the timer in between rounds when actual gameplay is not going on?
I'm thinking about setting a timer during my at-home games.

I timed the actual gameplay in an episode before the final spin bell and it's approximately 11 minutes. This seems really low.

What follows is complete speculation: I don't think they use a timer. There would be too much variability in figuring out what to set it to.
In the end, the only thing that matters is the final length of the show. In order to use a timer you would have to keep track of so many things. Is the Speed Up going to be long - better call it early. Were there any null cycles during the game - better call it late.
There are years of experience on the production staff. I bet they have a good sense of when time should be up. The editing folks take care of the rest.

I've timed the last few episodes and including the contestant interviews and product sponsors, it averages between 14 and 16 minutes before the final spin bell rings.
So, I'm thinking I'll set my timer for 15 minutes for my at-home games and stop the timer to change the puzzles and wheel wedges.

You have to also understand that what you see on TV doesn't reflect edited sequences of lost turns, and several wheel spins are edited down so the viewer doesn't sit for a few seconds longer waiting for the wheel to stop.

They also often snip out a few seconds of deliberation and/or players saying "I'll spin". I made sure to always wait until Vanna was done walking before making my next move to buy a few extra seconds of thinking time, so even though you'll often hear the Wheel spinning before Vanna is done walking, that's not always the case in the studio.

Thanks for all the input and inside details.
I'm going to try and do a 15 minute game just to see how it goes.
