Something that's brought up in the history wiki is that the yellow $1000 space was, in fact, still under the sparkly green $1000 space that sat on the wheel in 1996.
This is the oft-cited picture for such a thing, but to me...that just looks like the lights bouncing off the sequins of the sparkly $1000 space at just the right moment to trick us into thinking that's the old yellow $1000 space. (Look especially at the corner closest to the purple $600 next door...that doesn't look like yellow to me.)
Am I seeing things?
