Something that's brought up in the history wiki is that the yellow $1000 space was, in fact, still under the sparkly green $1000 space that sat on the wheel in 1996. This is the oft-cited picture for such a thing, but to me...that just looks like the lights bouncing off the sequins of the sparkly $1000 space at just the right moment to trick us into thinking that's the old yellow $1000 space. (Look especially at the corner closest to the purple $600 next door...that doesn't look like yellow to me.) Am I seeing things?

That is the plain yellow $1000. It has the usual font for the numbers whereas the sparkly green one used Clarendon like the other top dollar wedges at the time. There are other pictures out there showing the plain $1000, including the box of the 1999 Parker Brothers home game.

The font alone should be good enough.
