Hope things worked out for you, Ron. I did a mini-report that covered my experience.

Woo-hoo! Just got the email for the final audition, based on my audition at the Cleveland Wheelmobile event! Any other BAV members going to be there?
So pumped!

I did not get on stage but yes, I received an email as well for a final audition. However, I received the magical letter based on a final audition in Chicago so I will not be attending. Good luck to you!

Does anyone think I should RSVP that I will NOT be there or do you think they only want a reply if you WILL be at the final audition?

I wouldn't bother. I'm sure there are a lot of people who ignore the invite because they don't know if it's legit or never see it because it gets filtered as spam.

Well, I attended the final audition yesterday! I think things went relatively well, although I was not picked for the last 30 minutes of extended interviews. I did a reasonable job calling letters (including vowels), following rules, showing excitement for my solve ("TRAINING FOR A MARATHON") and won a hat! Many people that had short turns were called a second time to play, but I was not. I didn't have to be reminded to smile, speak up, play by the rules, etc.. As many have previously reviewed, the written test was hard.. I think I got about 8 or 9 correct, with some others that were really close.
As I replay the day in my head, there are a few things I might have been able to do differently, but overall I think that's as good as I'm going to get! They did promise us that some people that were not sticking around would be getting a letter anyway. If nothing else, I did make the 4 o'clock news!
Given the demographics of the crowd (about 60 people), the odds seem a little bit better as a young male too, with most people (75%?) female, and a sizable amount older than me.
My hopes are down, but not lost. Here's hoping for that magical letter. If nothing else, it's been a fun journey!

They may be looking for young male contestants because there aren't that many that actually audition. I would imagine there are far more women who audition versus men in general.

They mentioned that they compare with the records or data from the current contestant pool to make sure there's a good variety of contestants. So I figure being a guy, I was really only competing against the other guys there.

As I am reviewing the audition in my head, more and more I'm convinced I didn't make it. Oh well!
One piece of advice I did want share: one of the things they ask for in the application is a recent photograph of you, "preferably 3x5" - I don't know how it is near you, but none of my local stores has 3x5 as an option. So, you may want to order one of these at some point. I had to print a 4x6 and then cut it down to 3x5.

Sean I know exactly how you feel -- I cried on the way home from my final audition because I thought I had blown it -- but less than three weeks after the final audition, I received an e-mail with a tape date just two weeks later! Just a note that I never received the "letter in the mail" while my friend did, so I definitely thought I had blown it -- until I got the e-mail 4 days after he got his letter! It pays to keep checking your e-mail too!!! I think it pays for your mental health not to get too excited, but don't beat yourself up too badly either. And if you don't make it this time, I hope you resolve to definitely do it again!!! Retroactive good luck!!! Kathy

I would imagine there are far more women who audition versus men in general. This was absolutely true, especially as I reviewed the news segment. In one particular shot there were 23 women, and 1 man. The split wasn't nearly that one-sided throughout the whole room, but the men were definitely a minority.

Retroactive good luck!!! Kathy Thanks very much for sharing your story and your kind words. I really jump back and forth about what I think will happen. The wait is trying, for sure. I can't imagine the insanity for people that make it to the contestant pool, but don't film for almost a year!

Hi Sean,
I was also at the Cleveland final auditions and am anxiously waiting to hear back. I was at the 10am session and drove four hours from Kentucky! This website has been a wonderful resource as I have prepped for the audition, and your second-guessing made me create an account. I thought I would respond to your post to let you know that I am waiting too and have been second-guessing everything I did as well! There are times I feel confident in how I auditioned and other times I feel like i won't get the letter.
I also was not called back after the test. I am at a point where I am talking way too much about it. My family is getting annoyed! I keep telling myself I did everything I could and have no regrets, as I am sure you did as well. Hang in there, only a little bit more time to wait. At least we don't have to wait three months like we did between the wheel mobile and the final auditions! If it doesn't happen this time for us, there will be other opportunities!
Best of luck and thanks to everyone for the audition tips!
Matt

Hi Matt, Thanks so much for responding! Glad to hear from another candidate! I captured the news segment that covered us: youtu.be/6XLE_HTkb2oAre you in the video? I'm the guy making the silly "ooh" face right after the clip where she spins for $300. How'd you do on the test? I'll let you know if I hear anything, hope you do the same. Good luck! Sean

Thanks for posting the video. I am the guy in the front row in the blue sweater in the video.
I think I got around 10 correct on the written test. I was doing well until about a minute left. The people I talked to around me seemed to get around 8-10 correct too. It seems like that might be the average. It was tougher than I expected! I think the time limit makes it stressful. I can't remember what/if I filled in anything for the puzzles I didn't know.
Like you, I wasn't told to do anything by the coordinators, solved a puzzle, and just tried to genuinely have fun. I would definitely do it again!
I have to say, I really thought there would be more men at the audition. I wonder if that helps our chances or hurts them...
