Erik S has posted an episode from the first week of season 18(2000-01) of syndicated WOF on his Youtube page. It appears to be from between 9/5-9/8/2000 given the dates seen in one of the ads and from what Wikipedia says about season 18's premiere week being Fast Cars, and Pat fully explains the toss-ups, which debuted that week, and explains that $1K is no longer the top dollar value in round one.

I actually think I vaguely remember that closing segment, because as a kid, I remember noticing that the $1000 was gone and being sad about it, and that Pat acknowledged the new top value structure in a closing that week.

Per the Wiki, this is the September 5 show.

This should be the season that GSN should air if it goes back to airing classics since this is the first post-Merv season and overall there is just enough "retro" feel around this time, such as the eggcrate scoring display, "WHEEL" bonus round, the Jackpot wedge, Free Spin, pre-Prize Puzzle, and the current puzzleboard still with the gold on its outside. I did get the bonus after the extra choices in an instant. Note that the puzzle solve music soon became the Toss Up solve cue, and I believe this is the first season in which the video wall were also animated.

^I don't think they want to air classic episodes. They want the episodes to be and look as new as possible.

To be honest, I don't think it's a matter of wanting them to look new, it's more likely a matter of not wanting to pay music royalties to Merv Griffin or Steve Kaplan.

What about the Monday, September 4, 2000 episode featuring Karen Stillman's FIRST Bonus Round Winner of Season 18?

What about the Monday, September 4, 2000 episode featuring Karen Stillman's FIRST Bonus Round Winner of Season 18? What about it? It's NOT there on YouTube & Dailymotion anymore because SONY had BLOCKED IT.😢
