So I'm having another Wheel Party in less than two weeks and I'm trying to incorporate a game element that will be fun and interesting. I thought I'd get your feedback on what would be good, if any tweaks should be made, etc. What I'm proposing is a wedge called "Dibs," where if a player lands on it, calls a letter that is in the puzzle, they would get $500 for every consonant and then the option of adding the earnings of that round from another player(i.e. "I call Dibs on Yellow Arrow's Stuff"). Tokens/Prize Wedges would be included in this and game play resumes as normal. What has been solved/won in previous rounds cannot be called for Dibs. One of my friends described it as "Wheel Meets Dirty Santa." It would be for Rounds 1-3. What are your thoughts? Should it be limited to only one round? If I use this element for Rounds 1-3, should this be surrounded by Bankrupts(like 10K or MDW, which I plan on phasing out). Since the adult beverages tend to flow at these parties, I am attempting to ease the setup for gameplay as much as possible. As host, I also have to set up the tokens and the puzzle board for the co-host(which is now going to computer clicks in Keynote for this one). I am also getting rid of half-cars and adding a second prize to the Wheel. Mystery/Express will remain. Here are a few mockups of the Wedge as a full space. The outline for the wedge is courtesy of MarioGS. I selected Green because that was the only color preview in Mac would allow me to change it to. That or purple. I was thinking about Yellow since my Wheel only has three yellow spaces on it and it'd be great to have another yellow space. Any feedback will help.

An interesting concept, but would like to know how exactly it would be executed. Do the player who landed on the wedge and the one they chose both have the ability to get the winnings by solving? Ex. Red calls Dibs on Yellow's stuff. Yellow has $6,000 and Gift Tag XYZ. If Yellow solves later in the round, would they get the $6,000 and Gift Tag XYZ they had?

No. If Red calls Dibs on Yellow's stuff, it functions as a Bankrupt for the Yellow player and the Red Player gets Yellow's stuff. The only way Yellow can get their stuff back is by landing on Dibs again and stealing what the Red player has(and whatever the Red Player has earned in the round). So basically, a player's Bankrupt can be determined by another player.

I would use it in one round only.
If there's drinking involved, I've learned to keep it short and simple. Also, with drinking I recommend keeping the puzzles to only 2-3 words. More words than that tend to make for super long games.
I like the wedge with DIBS above the wheel. But if I were to make one I'd have the word DIBS at the top with the black shadow of a masked man with a money bag in his hands.

I only have one superlong puzzle, one medium sized puzzle, and two two word puzzles. Would you keep it green or do you like the idea of it being yellow?

I know you're asking TLC, but in my opinion, the color depends on where you would put it on your Wheel.

It depends on if it is a one round thing or a three round thing. If it's one round, I may put it over the Red 1000 space by Lose A Turn. Multiple Rounds, perhaps over one of the 900's. Bare Layout.

This actually isn't uncommon in international versions of Wheel (see: "Power" in the Philippines, "Me Lo Quedo" in Spain). Whereas in Spain it's a "token" (well, as much of a token as the whole wedge can be), I think in the Philippines it was a full space kinda like how you describe it now.
So, if you ask me, my vote would be "None of the above: convert Dibs into a token." Then you can have it on the wheel for as long as you want, but the player can determine if it's the opportune time to use it.

I was wondering when someone was gonna reference the Power wedge from the Philippines. I think the only difference is that Power has to be used right away when it's landed on so it may not have any pull.
