Starting next week, of which the theme is "Road Trip," Wheel will now be giving away cars in the maingame again...but it won't be as easy as before. There are two identical wedges on the wheel starting in Round 1. They are divided into thirds like the Million Dollar Wegde. The middle third is "1/2 CAR," while the outer two are red $500 spaces. One is placed over the orange $300, while the other is placed directly across the wheel over the blue $500. Since it would mean two red wedges next to each other, the red $900 is changed to blue. Presumably, one must win both car wedges in order to win the car. Here is a screenshot of one of the wedges, and a wide shot showing both wedges on the wheel. This will certainly be interesting. I wonder if this will be permanent or just for this week. It seems way too difficult to get the car under these circumstances, though, comparing to how often they were just normal prize wedges at first, then the Mystery Wedge prize.

Woah! Where did you find that video? I can't wait to see the back of this wedge! I wonder what they would say when a contestant lands on a half when another contestant already has the other half. This will certainly be interesting. I wonder if this will be permanent or just for this week. I hope it's just this week. If I were designing it. I would have moved the $500's lower, and add some sparkles/noise and maybe a picture of a car to the gold strip. It seems way too difficult to get the car under these circumstances, though, comparing to how often they were just normal prize wedges at first, then the Mystery Wedge prize. It's a lot easier than winning the Million.

It's from next week's promo on the Sony webiste. (Go to "Previews & Clips" -> "On Television" -> "Wheel of Fortune") But just to warn anybody, it has quite a few spoilers for next week, more than usual, including a couple Toss Up answers, and gives away quite of bit of information regarding a certain piece of the wheel. In fact, if you look at the bottom half of the image in the first post, that actually tells you something that happens in the episode right there.
If you follow the show on Facebook, they'll post the same video on their wall on Monday. Another warning, don't read the post itself if you don't want to know the five Prize Puzzle trips for the week.

I would think that the whole wedge would get picked up. It would look kind of ugly if there was just a big rectangle across the top under where the license plate goes that read "$500" or whatever in addition to the two "$500"s on the sides. (Assuming that's what they'd do if only the plate gets picked up, because what would happen if somebody landed in the middle of the wedge again?)

I looked at the picture again and I was comparing the hight of the wedge to that blue $900, and I didn't realize that the $900 was raised up like a prize. Can't wait for Monday!

You can bet your set of wheels that I'm absolutely looking forward to tomorrow too. I don't think I ever saw a blue $900 space before on our version. We'll also see what happens with these new wedges. If you folks have checked my DA gallery for my "Wheel of Stuffness" series, you'll more than can expect these wedges to be seen on one of them - you will eventually see them. It's just a question of when. ;D

This will be easy enough for me to implement, but there are a couple mechanical details still outstanding:
-Does a player have to get both halves in the same round to cash in, or do they persist like the wildcard? If they persist, then at what point do they have to win a round to keep the car?
-Are the cars obtained this way going to be bonus-quality prizes, or standard $20,000 or so cars?
Also, in the second screenshot it looks like an exhibition shot of the wheel without bonusboost (MDW) on it. I always thought that space was a terrible idea, so maybe (here's hoping) the car gimmick simply replaces it instead of having two different kinds of subspaces coexist?

Although the screenshot shows no extras on the wheel other than the Mystery Wedges, the Car Wedges are NOT replacing the Prize Wedge, the Wild Card, the Gift Tag, or the Million Dollar Wedge, as you would know if you watched the video...The MDW will be picked up twice this week, but lost, as it shows clips with the same contestants who picked it up, then it is not on their podium in a later round.

Pat had stated that it was only for this week. Probably as a way of testing it before they decide right away that it becomes permanent.

I think they should make the car like auto motorize house car so the 1/2 car will be more valuable.
