Hey folks,
It's been a while since we've had one of these. With some recent changes to the forums, and with more upcoming, it's time to formally announce some things.
First, you may have noticed a slight change to the leadership team of the site. The position of Director- originally designed to be a tech support role but ultimately ended up becoming a pseudo-admin position instead- has been eliminated. As a result, longtime Director Guint has been officially promoted to the role of Executive Producer, while whammy007 has returned to his old role of moderator.
Next, the rank of Production Assistant- which was primarily used to honor members whose contributions to the site have bettered the community as a whole- has been renamed as "VIP" to more appropriately honor their status. The title of "Production Assistant", meanwhile, has been given to a newly-created tech support role, which, unlike the Director role, will be directly involved with site maintenance, but has little involvement in day-to-day affairs. trisspinner, who was brought on a few months ago to assist with the Compendium relaunch, has been promoted into this new role, along with longtime friend of the site WayoshiM, who will primarily assist with coding, as none of us admins pretend to actually be competent in such matters.
Over the coming months, the staff will be further organized into groups, with each group having a certain specialty (tech support, site design, social media, etc.). Our four moderators, along with the four admins, will continue to maintain the bulk of the day-to-day affairs of the site, while our support staff will continue to assist in their particular roles. More support staff may be added in the coming months.
During the course of the summer, we will be working on a pretty radical redesign of the site. The forums themselves, being the backbone of the site, will continue to exist and be the primary driving force, however, the home page is being redesigned to better serve the community. More details about these plans to be revealed in the coming months.
Finally, this thread is being made in an effort to be more transparent with you, our loyal friends and Wheel watchers, and give an insight to the reasons we do business the way we do. Open communication is valued highly among the staff, and we hope that you continue to bring any concerns you may have about anything to us. Likewise, if you have any questions or comments about this announcement in particular, feel free to post a reply to this thread.
Thanks, and keep on being awesome!
