EPIsodes appear to be from 9/17 and 9/18/84 given the NBC All-Star hour was aired on 9/17/84 and it was mentioned in the closing credits on the NBC voiceover of the first show.

Well, these two episodes sort of shake some things up with regards to the Timeline (over at the Wiki)... 1. The second sunburst backdrops are in place - moving that change up from about October 1. 2. The wedge to the left of $1,000 in Round 2 has dropped from $150 to $100 - moving that change up from mid-November. 3. The fact that the first of these two shows is confirmed to be September 17 pushes another episode's airdate back a bit (Celia/Joseph/Gloria, originally thought to have been September 17 or 24). How far back, I can't tell.

I'm starting to suspect that nighttime episodes were being taped well in advance at this point. It'd explain why there's at least 15 episodes from Season 2 with the original sunbursts.
Times like this are why I wish we had a master list.
As for the shows themselves, not much to note except the one-word Phrase (which doesn't happen often) that takes up an entire row of the board.

Done blocked....
I started watching it earlier today but wasn't able to finish. Crap.
Anyone write the puzzles down? All I got was THE PIONEER SPIRIT (PHRASE) from episode 1.

Bonus Round of show #2 was BROKENHEARTED (the aforementioned one-word Phrase; I think the letters were RSTNLE). Pat mentioned afterward how long one-word puzzles sometimes look like "a jumble of letters".
Also...boy that Sony block was quick.
[EDIT: Fixed puzzle per Bryce's post below. For whatever reason, my brain was telling me HEARTBROKEN.]

^ you got the right idea, ALWAYS snag episodes like this the moment you find them. That's my personal policy, at least.

I'm starting to suspect that nighttime episodes were being taped well in advance at this point. AFAIK they've always taped well in advance. We know that Season 1 started taping July 6, 1983 (with the debut airing in September 1983), so I'd assume that pattern held fairly consistently.

David Downs posted the aforesaid 9/17/84 episode of daytime WOF to their Dailymotion page: www.dailymotion.com/Downsa530. You can get to the episode easily on that page. Worth noting that about a month ago, someone posted two September 1987(early season four) episodes of Trebek J! not on J-archive, airdate gleaned from the fact that an ad had a sale with a 9/30/1987 expiration date, and a promo for John Davidson Hollywood Squares with clips from the second season premiere in it(9/14/87 airdate). I viewed the first episode a couple hours after it was downloaded, and not too long after, when I went back to watch the second episode, Sony had already taken it down.
