Just as a note, this rule exists for a material reason, beyond the should-be obvious legal one(s):
While I respect BigJon as an individual, I do not respect his prior treatment of me. Simply put, he had spread rumors with revisionist history about very personal and delicate aspects of my life, over a Twitch chat with hundreds of people in it, for an extended time, smearing my name, and to some degree my sanity. It was at minimum bordering on slander, but under stare decisis of New York Times Co v. Sullivan ("reckless disregard of whether [his statement/s] was false or not"), it was absolutely actual malice, although IANAL. For someone who has the following he does, and good for him by getting it through hard work, he should know better. Don't support someone's work who treats others like that.
