For many years, Wheel had the honor of consistently being the top-rated game show in syndication. That changed a few years ago when Family Feud took the crowd thanks to the risque but trendy direction the show had taken once Steve Harvey became host.
Since then, Wheel has almost-always taken the #2 spot, save for two or three occasions where it was overtaken by Jeopardy!
As of three weeks into their new seasons, Wheel has failed to chart at #2 in syndie game show ratings without a tie with J!. Week 3 brought Wheel below J! for at least the fifth known time (after Ken Jennings, Watson, Julia Collins, and a random week last summer while Wheel was in reruns but J! was not).
Week 1: J! - 5.5 (up 8% from their final rerun week) / WOF - 5.5 (up only 2% from their final rerun week) Week 2: J! - 5.8 / WOF - 5.8 Week 3: J! - 5.8 / WOF - 5.7

The latest reports are for the week of September 25-29. Jeopardy!'s current champion, who started his reign during this week, is generating a lot of buzz in the media as the days go on, so it's pretty much a guarantee that at least the next week will see an increase.
The question is, will Wheel at #3 be long-term?

I know many people like Harvey Feud but I can't stand it. Steve Harvey acts so self-righteous. Can't stand him.

As for me, I could care less about Harvey, but there's no need of the TV-MA questions they use (there's a reason they call it Phallic Feud now). I'm convinced Mark Goodson, Richard Dawson, and Ray Combs are all spinning in their graves.
That being said, knowing the budget issues Sony's had, and the open secret of Jeopardy! being Harry Friedman's baby much more so than Wheel is, I would not be surprised if the plug is pulled at the end of its current contract, assuming it doesn't pull ahead of Jeopardy! at some point between now and 2020 (or whenever the next renewal is).

It's fine. Wheel will always be number one in my heart. Vanna is probably gonna get it back to 2 before we even know it. Or at least the fall of our Jeopardy champion will damage Jeopardy enough.
Also, show some respect for Harvey Feud. Just because it has material that would not be expected on Wheel (and I don't mean post-90s songs) doesn't make it bad. It just doesn't deserve to be above Wheel. I think the host himself is also extremely valid, especially since he made Pat jealous! Maybe some of it will rub off on Wheel for Le Ratings, which would be good where Vanna is concerned.
And long-term renewal for Wheel is still extremely likely! Don't get to worrying.

I honestly don't think Wheel will ever be canceled. Even if it slips in the ratings, it's still a cash cow and a hugely well-known, popular title. The show will still be going long after Pat and Vanna retire.

Let me inform Vanna that she is going to retire, because I don't see her doing so at all.

Jeopardy! and Wheel will be lucky to emerge post-host change as strong as Feud has.

I am not so worried about this honestly. Austin is being a fun player on Jeopardy!, so I think that after his reign is done, things will return back to the way they were. I don't see why Wheel being slightly less popular than Jeopardy would lead to either show's cancellation. I mean, Millionaire is still running.
I don't think it will be a long-term thing is my answer.

Jeopardy! and Wheel will be lucky to emerge post-host change as strong as Feud has. Jeopardy will be a harder one than WHeel to find a host to fill the previous one's shoes, I would think. Besides that, It's possible when Pat, Vanna, and Alex retire, Harry Friedman(another discovery of the recently deceased Merrill Heatter, as Harry's first game show gig was on 70s Squares) will also retire or maybe be forced out by Sony the way Roger D. was at Fremantle after Barker retired, and a MIke RIchards-like younger producer will take over the reins for the shows.

When will the defeatist attitude stop? Vanna's not retiring. I don't know where that information is coming from, but it's not Vanna!

Well, she's certainly not immortal, you know! How would you know? We never see Vanna age, and her "puzzleboard power" suggests that she is something beyond a regular human. Or she may just die on set without retiring first.

We have veered WAY off the original topic. Please limit your discussion to the ratings of the shows as they stand and not your personal opinions of the futures of each respective show.

For many years, Wheel had the honor of consistently being the top-rated game show in syndication. That changed a few years ago when Family Feud took the crowd thanks to the risque but trendy direction the show had taken once Steve Harvey became host. If I'm not mistaken, Nielsen changed the way they determined syndication ratings around the same time, and since Feud's syndicator does something like four different feeds per day it began rocketing up the charts. {game show ratings from TV News Check} For the sake of completeness, Funny You Should Ask is at 0.4, a drop of 20%...though since Byron Allen shows operate under "make it cheap, make it quick", he's likely making money despite barely any viewership. show some respect for Harvey Feud. I gave the show mad props in 2010 when they uploaded clips showing Steve tearing apart stupid answers (and being stupefied if said dumb answer actually made the survey)...but then came the juvenile euphemisms, "not enough points", deliberately ignoring their own rules, questions pandering to the host, this six-minute waste of time, and the fact that the show's overexposed (hur hur) on the airwaves yet still hasn't experienced much of any burnout. All things considered, I personally can't show respect for Harvey Feud. It just doesn't deserve to be above Wheel. Agreed, but maybe slipping into third will give Wheel the kick in the pants it needs to try experimenting.

I would like to see Wheel keep things fresher than they do. Try some quirky dollar amounts on the wheel, untether Vanna from the puzzle board, etc... even minor things can be refreshing.

Vanna probably likes being tethered. She could obtain greater freedom at any time by using her place on the show as a bargaining chip, but she doesn't do that.

The way I see it:
- The constant $1,000 increase in the Bonus Round for every new season is stupid. The fact they ares still doing it now is jumping the shark. I seriously hope this is the last season this is done. - The removal of $5k Everyday is practically only done to compensate that unnecessary Bonus Round increase. - Express still being used in the Prize Puzzle round is dumb. - Though I like Pat, his jokes are getting more repetitive.
I still like watching the show but the flaws are getting out of hand.
