Do you see them renaming several of the existing categories to feature the "WHAT ARE..." question?
I could see, possibly:
THING(S): WHAT IS IT? or WHAT ARE THEY?
MOVIE TITLE/TV TITLE: WHAT ARE YOU WATCHING?
TITLE/BEST SELLER: WHAT ARE YOU READING?

Can’t see them doing that with THING(S) as the WHAT categories cover the same thing (pun intended). WATCHING and READING, on the other hand, are different as they cover the current specific categories and more so. Would make for some very interesting possibilities such as:
PEOPLE PASSING BY for WATCHING and A FRIEND’S PALM for READING

WHAT ARE YOU WATCHING? is chosen for the Bonus Round, and the puzzle says __EEL __ __RT_NE. The contestant picks the letters WHFO to have WHEEL OF FORT_NE showing and guesses...
WHEEL OF FORTANE.

^That sounds about right.
I could see this as a PP:
WHAT ARE YOU WATCHING?
DOLPHINS JUMPING OUT OF THE OCEAN

The thing is, I think that already came up as "The Show that You are On". They wouldn't do the same puzzle with different category, would they? And for SAME LETTER: WHAT IS THE FIRST LETTER? EDIT: How did TLC snipe me by four seconds?

ON-THE-SPOT DECISION has been an EVENT and a THING, though... maybe the next time it's used (hopefully with no dicey missolves) it can be a WHAT ARE WE MAKING? puzzle!
